That certainly was no failure as Gustave had a FurrEver Home, and a true Guardian who did the best for that poor Cat.
They will be reunited in love as Gustave is an Awesome Angel now, and healthy and well and he and his best friend, truly one of great compassion will reunite in love.

As someone who has a number of disabled cats right now, including one with seizures. It is so hard to watch them when they are having problems. But I love them all regardless of their unique circumstances. They have all come into my life for a reason.
