Pepper
My mom called. She put Pepper to sleep this morning. I guess Tuesday morning she was her normal self (though that doesn't say much for such an old dog) and by evening when my mom got home from work and Pepper couldn't walk well. She couldn't use her right back leg well and she couldn't make it down the stairs or jump up on the chair. She also said she couldn't open her mouth to eat, even bologna. I think it sounds like she had a stroke when nobody was watching. We've had her for 14 years. Its going to be strange going home without her there. She had a peaceful ending though.

I'm sorry to hear that :( Rest in peace, Pepper.

Thank you everybody. I'm trying to think of a gift I can give my mom, since it was so hard for her to do. But its such a sensitive issue. I wish my stepdad wasn't so against getting another dog because I know my mom can't live without one. At least she's got Autumn for now.

I am so sorry. RIP Pepper. I had to make the decision to put my RB girl down under similiar circumstances (she never improved/recovered from her stroke). She had a long and happy life. It is good that Autumn is still with your Mom, it will help until she decides if/when she wants another dog.
I didn't see this until you mentioned Pepper in the past tense in one of your other posts.

Thanks everybody for your support and kindness. Autumn should keep her busy for another year or two until I graduate. I have this hope that my stepdad will come through and allow another dog, but I know its not going to happen.
