I'm almost finished my project as well - can't believe I stuck with it! Have followed you guys back on my project. ;)
Can't believe I uploaded my last picture today... Time really flies, wow!
I cannot decide to leave, I think I'll do another year... ;)
Okay, made my decision, I'll do another year... :o Talk about addiction! lol ;)
Already started! Posted my second picture of 2012 today. My friend and I are challenging each other on FB with our 365 project so why not on the website, too? :)
Post them here, too, Kirsten, and I'll try to do a poem for each! That'd challenge us both! You, too, Rachel!
For Day one:
Memories of rare childhood visits
Being in a diner was a rare thing
Reserved for road tips to nowhere
Getting to spin on a round stool
Legs flying (tuck 'em in as we pass the counter)
Just a few twirls, checkerboard floor blurring
Until someone stopped us
But still
We could see they were trying to hide smiles
Remembering their own trips
Round and round and giggling with glee
And even the blue-haired lady
In that booth over there
Gave us a smile
When she thought the folks weren't looking
Remembering her own days
As a fetching young gal
Ribbon in her hair,
Perched atop that red stool
Hoping to catch her sweetheart's eye.
I absolutely love this!
Okay, Karen... :) Here are the three pics I've posted so far this year. I think the first one works only with the text I've written:

A New Year...
...is like a blank sheet of paper that is lying before us on our desk today. White and empty, waiting to be filled with stories and pictures. Now it's up to you. Maybe you already did your first sketches today, maybe you have no idea how to start... But no matter if you already know how to fill your paper, or if you have no clue at all, no one of us can say for sure how it will be looking like at the end. Will the bright colors dominate? Will it look dull and grey? Will there be many corrections and ink spots? Or will there be nothing at all? Will life let us write our story the way we planned, or will there be someone who's scratching out the things we came up with only to dictate us what to write instead? Will there be others who support us while we progress, or do we have to walk alone? Will we learn more about ourselves and our skills while we work? So many questions, and all we can do is taking a pencil and accepting the challenge - and as we go, we may find our direction and see where this is leading us...
May your paper sheet be filled with stories of love and joy in the end, and with cheerful pictures of happiness and light!

Something Bad Is Coming Our Way

Fake flowers set in muted colors
Light gently catching the petals,
Flattering the false blooms with soft light
The way an aging starlet demands
To be filmed through gauze
So no one notices the minor imperfections
That age brings

Ominous skies at sunset
Bare branches silhouetted
Against the wrong-colored sky
Gathering clouds and yellowed light
Portends storms a-brewing
Hurry home, hurry home
And be glad for warmth
Even old radiators are comforting
Against the threat
Of a winter storm
