I think a true tortoiseshell is only black and orange, so I call a tortie with white a "tortiecal." She's a beauty either way.

I am writing this at 2:46 a.m. in a town outside of the Montreal area - why so late? Coincidentally it's because of someone who doesn't subscribe to the same common sense as you and your partner. I was woken up by cats fighting outside - what a horrible sound and it just worries me - are they all okay? I have done adoptions for a local shelter and one of our criteria is that cats be given the same sense of protection and security as dogs - that means they are not left to wander unsupervised outside! For the reasons you mentioned in your tribute to your cat and also due to predators. It is beyond me how someone can love their little furry friend and let it just walk out the door not knowing if they will come back - and trust me, if you say "mine always gets back home safely" it is just because you're lucky. Also, many abandoned cats that live in neighborhoods are more often, sadly, carriers of FIV and FELV (in the last few months two friends have had to euthanize 3 outdoor cats who tested positive when they decided to bring them inside to live with their family). PLEASE keep them safe, just like dogs - do we actually need a law to tell us to do this! Isn't seeing the selfish way people drive enough - or knowing that some of your neighbors don't want them on their property enough (recently there was a case where a neighbor euthanized their neighbors cat - no proof necessary when taken to the vet to do this!). The saying If you love something set it free does NOT apply to your cats.
Phoebe is a very beautiful cat and after such a tough start, she looks fabulous! I love torts the most! Happy cat of the day Phoebe
I'm Phoebe's Mum and I just wanted to thank you all so much for your positive feedback about keeping Phoebe on a lead (catlover11) I was horrified when I read you comments about a cat being euthanized, it just makes me cry when I hear such stories. AussieCat1 & jb3, we think she's beautiful too but don't worry she can be a right strop. That's Australian for she's got attitude.
This is the first time I've actually joined a forum or had the confidence to do so, but this is a subject I feel very passionate about and I was so thrilled to have other people talk about Phoebe in such a positive way.
All animals are precious especially our own pets, they need people like us to be their advocate and protectors.
Thanks again, Rhonda & Phoebe.
CATLOVER11 was absolutely right! You are to be commended for keeping Phoebe indoors and on a harness and lead when supervised outside. People don't realize, in addition to the dangers that Catlover11 mentioned, that if something spooks a cat it can take off in a flash and be lost.
You should be used as an example to all cat owners. Here in the states if a beauty like Phoebe has any white at all on them, they are called a calico.:)
Phoebe, who couldn't love you! Your markings are absolutely gorgeous and you have the sweetest little face. How wonderful and wise your humans are, too, for making you an indoor cat. It's a dangerous world out there for kitty kats and you'll live a much longer, healthier life b/c your humans made the right decision. Enjoy your day as COTD, pretty girl. :)
:love::love::love:
What a clever Kitten you are Phoebe, while the other Kittens were meewing and hopping around like Roos, trying to attracy an adopters attention, you stayed cool and let your beauty nad cattitude do the job and let your owner see what a calm Kitten you are, and let your eyes do the talking.
:D:D
You are now such a Mature Lady , and the Queen of all you survey and slowly growing to a fine Senior Kittyzen, one who will give her Family so many more years of love and companionship.

Awww, Phoebe! You are beautiful and how dear that you go outdoors on your leash! You showed your family that you were the kitty they needed to bring home. Your mum said you have tortie attitude but I like to think of it as tortie spirit :) because my sister was owned by a calico tortie for many years and she was a very spirited kitty! Happy Cat of the Day to you, precious lovely Phoebe!
Phoebe what a gorgeous girl you are!!!
I loved seeing your sweet face on my computer today. I'm so glad you are an indoor only cat now. All 6 of mine are. The world is just too big, bad and dangerous for little ones out alone any more. I wish mine would take to walking on a leash but they said 'forget about it'. ;) Enjoy your special day to the fullest, ok? ;)
Congratulations, sweetie, on being our special Cat of the Day!!! :D
Rhonda, welcome to Pet Talk. It would be wonderful if you would share more of Phoebe under Cat General with us from time to time. :)
What a lovely girl you are! And lucky to have such cool pet parents! (They take care of your well being as well as that of the local birds...kudos to them)!
Enjoy your COTD status, Phoebe!
Hellp Phoebe,
What a gorgeous kitty you are sweetheart. You have such pretty,
colorful markings. I am so happy to know that you are kept safe on a leash
outdoors, but you can still enjoy the sights & sounds of your garden.:)
Congratulations on being chosen for honors as our CAT OF THE DAY.
Wishing you many more happy & healthy years with your lucky family.:)
She is really a beautiful kitty! I just want to give her a hug! I have a tortishell Scottishfold marked similar to her that I love dearly and call her my angelgirl.
Greetings to you beautiful Phoebe, and congratulations to you and your mum Rhonda, your purrents, on being crowned Cat of the Day!:) You are simply precious sweetheart, and so is your story! I was so touched by your mummy's loving words, and so happy that your purrents chose to let you purvey and enjoy the great outdoors from the safety of your lead; they want you around for a long, long time! How blessed your family is to have you in their lives, and good on ya, taking the subtle route and playing coy on that first meeting...a winning strategy!;) Congratulations and lots of love and cuddles to you beautiful Phoebe, on your much deserved day of honor! Long and happy life to you, sweet baby girl!:love::love:
Wow, Phoebe, you are such a beautiful kitty and a very lucky one to be rescued when you were the littlest of the litter. You've had seven years of great care, and your family must really love you to keep you safe on a harness when you go out for your walks. That is just awesome :D
I love your tortie markings. They are perfectly blended in some areas and perfectly patchy in others. Your little orange chin is so cute and it gives your face such a sweet expression. It sounds like you have tortietude, just like mine do. I'm so glad you found the perfect forever home.
 Happy Cat of the Day, beautiful Phoebe!
Dear Sundance, thank you for your very kind words about our girl Phoebe. I have to acknowledge your generous spirit for caring for all your beautiful cats. I'm so inspired by the positive feedback I have recieved. Thanks again and all the best to you.
Regards Rhonda & Phoebe.
