i love hamsters!!! i had a beautiful "orange" & white teddy bear hamster named pumpkin for about 3 years. she was the sweetest hamster ever!!! from day one, she was so nice. one time, she ran away & came bak 10 days later. she was super skinny & i felt really bad =(. but then she got all better =). i currently own a panda bear hamster named roxy. she's ok (haha). i miss pumpkin! =( <3

I have had lots of hamsters. Currently, three dwarves occupy my room. One is a cute Robo Dwarf and the other two are Russian Dwarves. They are really cute and will sit in your hand and eat out of it. I also have two rats which are my favorite but I cannot judge them as "better" b/c rats have a bigger brain and are smarter. I have also had two Syrian hamsters over the years. One would sleep w/ me and the other would sit on my shoulder. They were however in different cages due to them being solitary creatures.

I used to have a really awesome dwarf hamster named Gabby. She was amazing!!! I also used to own 2 fancy rats (one was "yellow" & white, and the other was black & white). I had to get rid of them though because I got them at an older age (about a year), & I couldn't train them. Seeing as they hadn't been socialized at all, they kept biting us, so we gave them to a friend who breeds rats.

My rats are awesome! They sit on your shoulder for hours, come out whenever you walk into the room, love attention and treats.....everything!!

I used to have one that I could leave in my room on my bed while i went downstairs for like 10 mins. She would just find a place on the bed and cuddle up.

Aw! That's so cool! =) I'm hoping I can get some rats in the future. I'll just make sure I get them from an experienced breeder at a young age =)

You don't even need to get them from an experienced breeder. I got all of my rats from the "feeder bin" and saved them from being snake food. I prefer female rats, to males though. It only takes a couple of weeks to get them used to you, as w/ any pet. I feel that getting them from breeders, others will already be buying them as pets, but from the feeder rat section is better because you are saving a poor rat. And, I noticed that if you have to tame them on your own, you establish a greater bond between you.

aw! that's a great idea! i never even thought of that! =) yea, i live with my parents too...haha...i've had many many pets in the past. i've had rabbits, parakeets, hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, snakes, lizards, fish, etc. (not all at the same time lol). i'm really lucky i got Mouse because chinchillas are really expensive, but i got him for free from a friend who's chinchillas had babies =). & i already had a rat cage with multiple levels for him =)

I had a fish tank but didn't really take that much interest in them since the aquatic frogs had died. Then i had fire bellied toads at one point. A mouse too, and lots of rodents... If i get another pet, I am either getting a degu, or a chinchilla, maybe a ferret. The reason I had never gotten a ferret or chinchilla is b/c I had read they were hard to take care of on the internet. But, they should be fine. Ferrets though, you are supposssed to take to the vet and get them shots. I don't have 300 for one visit to do so.

When i had the toads, we had to have a tank full of crickets and they used to keep me awake at night. Chirping and Chirping...... I had to move them to the bathroom. lol

Once my rats go, I might get a chinchilla or ferret because i have them in a huge cage about the height of your hip/theigh and the length is long too.

My mom wont do crickets anymore b/c of the toads, and snakes are not my thing. I am always afraid of getting a bird b/c my kittie speckles when i accidently leave my door open will try so hard to get at the rats. Once, she had her paw on her through the bars and was about to swipe. I shoed her away quick though.

You know what is weird? I am allergic to guinea pigs but not any other rodents.
