Sprig, a nine year old springer spaniel has been missing for over one week since August 22 when he disappeared during one of the many walks he and his owners, Mr & Mrs Sanders did on Devon Point. The couple mentioned that Sprig never get lost on each of their coast walks and that losing him on that day was not so ordinary. The couple said it’s very off Sprig’s character to wander off the cliff. The couple tried to locate Sprig by reporting him missing and looking around the place but to no avail. The couple was on the thought that Sprig wandered of and was stolen. They are about to lose hope when the news of his rescue came.
Minehead’s volunteer RNLI crew were on a routine boat patrol training exercise last Sunday, August 31, 2014 near Foreland Point, Devon UK when they noticed what they thought was a sheep trapped on the cliff. They went as close as possible where the animal was about 30 feet above the water. RNLI crew Helmsman Andrew Escott jumped ashore and climb the rocky ledge and plucked the soggy dog off the cliff. The dog who seem to be delighted to see the rescuer frantically licked the water off the crew’s dry clothes. They suspected the dog survived his ordeal of without food and water by licking moisture unto the rocks and moss. This proves that dog’s survival nature. It is noteworthy that Sprig although a bit leaner than the last time his owners saw him was generally unharmed and well.
