Guess who's birthday is today?

Today is my yellow girls' birthdays. We know it's Nova's for sure, but Luka's is either in February or March so we decided to make it the same day as Nova.


My baby girl Nova turned one. I can remember last May the excitement of bringing home a little puppy. Buttons had been gone for over three months and Mandy started slowing down. She didn't act depressed, but the day we brought Nova home Mandy started playing again. She was so happy with the new little fluffball.

Nova is so special to me that I'm sitting here crying writing her birthday message. The memories that we have already are amazing and I can't thank her enough for bringing the most joy into my life that I've ever had.

She is a goofball, so good at making you laugh.
A snuggler, so good at keeping you warm.
A peace maker, so good at keeping the other girls from fighting.
A gentle soul, so good at making all your tears go away.
A brave leader, never letting someone go first until it's "all clear."
A smart baby, and so willing to learn.
She is everything to me. She is my heart dog. I am so lucky she "chose" me to spend our lives together.

Luka turned two today. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. She truly has a personality all her own. She is all about food. She dances for every treat and every meal, she burps after every meal, she begs for more after and in between every meal.

She just recently realized this was her forever home. She has loosened up quite a bit in the last month. There are a lot of new qualities she has revealed that I never knew she had before. Like she barks when she wants you to throw the balls (and oh my gosh she's a huge ball freak!!) and she growls at people walking down the street - which makes her an official part of this family. We used to think she was so quiet, but with her getting comfortable came a voice! She's not loud by any means, especially compared to the other two (who bark at e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!!!), but we just never thought we'd hear her bark! She has always grunted like Nova, but does it at different times and for different things. Usually when she changes positions in her sleep she lets out a little grunt.

For the most part she is a precious angel, and hardly does anything wrong except letting out some very stinky farts every now and then!

Good for them for staying still. That last picture that I posted of the girls behind the cake - you have no idea how incredibly hard that is for Luka! lol. That took forever to teach her, whereas Nova got it right away. Luka has trouble controlling herself around food ;)
