Hello, new here! This is a great forum, lots of good advice. I have 6 furbabies, 3 boys, 3 girls. The latest, a male, 10 months, just nueutered 2 days ago has such a strong smell to his pee. Is this normal? We only had him in our home a week before his surgery, and I did notice a strong smell then, but figured it was because he hadn't been fixed yet. We have never experinced this with our other two males, but they were fixed at a younger age. He did have a clean bill of health from the vet. The smell is like a cat who is spraying out doors. He is just using his litter box, that is where the smell is. Thankfully he is not going anywhere else. We are keeping him isloated from the other cats for a week, like our vet advised us. Do you think is time the smell will get better?Thank you for your help. :)

Neutering will reduce the strong smell of a male cat's urine but it may continue to be more pungent than that of your female cat's at least for a while. Because I've gone through this so many times and it's become routine, I can't remember how long it takes to change. Not much use, am I?!

Its ok, the smell is from being an uneutered male -- and even though he's now nuetered, his pee will stink for a good week or two afterwards while those hormones fade out.

Congrats on the new addition and welcome to PT!

It Will Smell For A Bit,but As The Other Threads Suggest,it Will Fade In A Week Or Two.
