I'm currently living in the St. Louis (ILL side of the river) area after relocating 5 times since Hurricane Charley (Friday August 13th 2004) in Punta Gorda Florida. At that time I had 3 cats of my own and 5 fosters from a local shelter where I once worked. The entire area was destroyed and including the shelter so I kept the cats and brought them with me. The trip went very well, and we're all living in a rather nice one bedroom apartment now. Thankfully the landlord is very understanding and doesn't mind the animals since they don't spray or destroy anything. They are all very well socialized and I refuse to take any of them to the local shelter. I've gone out there several times for employment and volunteer my time only to be met with rudeness and bad attutitudes, not to mention that they are 20 years behind the times in animal care. most of my cats are over the age of 5 years and deserve a stable home. my only problem is keeping up with the cost of food, mostly dry, with some canned. Any suggestions, I've tried everything here. I didn't even get help for myself when I needed it after the storms. God Help Those People on the Gulf Coast... SEND COUPONS :)
