That's what I told Breanne. I said it could be from low bloodsugar and to give her syrup.

Or maybe shes afraid of soemthing? When Tango gets scared, she stays in one spot, shakes and won't move until she knows for sure everything is alright.

Hopefully Zoey will be ok and it's nothing too serious!

Thanks so much all of you!! I feel the love on pet talk so much! Well I gave Zoey some pancake syrup like Brianna said. We waited for a half a hour, waiting for the phone to not be busy at the emergency room. Because even for emergency, we have to call them and tell them were coming in  . While we were waiting we had to grab her (she would not move) so we can actually put her in the car. She really got happy thinking she was going to be able to be in the car. I comforted her while she was in the car (while mom still tried to get a hold of the emergency vet.) Surprise, Zoey got up and went out of the car, and went out the doggie door. My parents now think she is ok and we are going to take shift's tonight staying up with her. I am very angry with my parents, not taking her there but happy they said I could stay up and watch her. Thanks for all your preys, I will still need more, and no matter what we will be taking Zoey into the vet tomorrow mourning.

Do you have any way to check her temperature? How is she acting (is she back to normal)? Are her gums nice and pink?

Flatcoatluver
01-29-2006, 09:38 PM
Her gums are pink, she isn't acting normal but she is getting better and better every hour, we have a human thermometer(SP). would that work?

.sarah
01-29-2006, 09:40 PM
Yes but you'll need to stick it up her bum and if you do that I imagine you'll need to get a new one later lol. A dog's normal temp is 101-102 degrees.

Flatcoatluver
01-29-2006, 09:42 PM
ok I will ask my parents, I would hate for them not do know about it and be sick and try it out, But also thanks because I should actually this weeknd by a thermomter, are they usally at petsmart?

.sarah
01-29-2006, 09:45 PM
I bought my pet thermometer at PetCo. Petsmart probably has them too. I don't know if they have regular, inexpensive ones though. Mine was $50 because it can take their temp from their ear canal rather than their bum ... Mandy doesn't exactly like something entering that area and I don't exactly like doing it either lol. It's also electric. This is what I have. (http://petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?R=7993&Nav=1&Ntt=thermometer&N=30+22&sku=988219&familyID=11018&)

Thanks, I get paid this weekend so I will try petsmart, then petco. Thanks so much.

.sarah
01-29-2006, 09:50 PM
Of course! I really like it. I use it after walks and hard playing to make sure my girls aren't overheated. If their temp is high I just wrap a cold, wet towel around them. And if they're acting abnormal I take their temp of course. It's a good thing to have around :)

She definitely wont be totally normal for a while. I can tell you that much from Tink's seizure experiences. Her not moving was probably being in a coma. So she wont be completely normal for a lil while.
ETA:Thermometers that go up a dogs butt(also had this experience  ) they arent fun to use. :p

If it was a seizure, the last stage (post-ictal) lasts anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days. Hope she gets better soon, you are in my thoughts.

Oh no I am just seeing this. I am glad to hear that she is improving but it sounds like she should really be looked at by a vet.

How is she today?

Sending lots of good thoughts.

Glad to hear that Zoey is feeling better.

It might not have been the syrup at all that helped Zoey. Having had experience with a dog that has the occasional seizure (Smudge) normally if it's a mild seizure the next day the dog is normally back to their normal self.
Smudge's seizures happen so infrequently that they can't classify them as anything but he has the same symptoms that were described for Zoey. The best thing that you could do for Zoey is to take her in to the vet and get all the necessary tests done on her and then just keep a careful on eye on her.
