Stuart had an accident today that has resulted in a badly injured left hand, a crushed ring finger. So far they've managed to save his finger, but there is a strong possiblity that he will loose at least part of it. He is in absolute agony tonight. His hand is wrapped so much it looks like he's wearing a ball glove, but there are exposed nerves and pins holding it together. Even the tiniest bump on one of those would be unbearable. There is a hand specialist coming up next week. He will do a full assessment to determine if Stuart can keep the finger, if there is tendon damage ect.

It's going to be a long week waiting for the doc to get here!

Oh, ow. That just sounds painful. I'm so sorry to hear about Stuart's hand, that has to be excruciating. I hope they're able to save all of his finger, but, I know regardless of what happens, he'll come through with flying colors. From what you've said, and, the spirit in you...I know he's a strong willed man and won't let this stop him for too long. ;) I will be thinking of you both and hoping the doctor can get there soon!

OMG! Digit injuries are especially painful. I hope his finger can be saved. When my mom severely injured her right ring finger ages ago, she had to have it elevated above her heart in a sling. It helped a bit with the pain too. I was hoping he'd see the hand specialist sooner before the tendons get hard. Poor Stuart. It hurts just to read this. I'm praying everything turns out OK.

OH MY! I would say I have my fingers crossed for a swift recovery but it hurts too terribly much to even THINK about crossed fingers :( K9 is right about the elevation of the hand but even so, how very hard on you both. I'm so sorry to hear this :(

Goodness, just the sound of it makes me cringe. I can't imagine the pain he must be feeling right now. A week is a long time to wait, I do hope that he has some very good pain meds.

I'll be sending lots of good vibes his way that he is able to keep his finger.

So sorry to hear about Stuart's hand Glacier. Both of you are some of the strongest and most determined people we've ever had the pleasure to meet. No matter what happens, he'll rise above this. Does he have any good drugs for the pain? I'm sure he could use some. My thoughts and prayers are with you both :(

*OUCH* My son had almost the same kind of injury awhile back. Him and a guy were moving a lot of steel the guy helping my son let go of his end. It landed on my sons finger. It cut the tip of his finger off. It was horrible. They thought they might have to amputate his finger but they didnt thank goodness. He was in so much pain. Like your husband, any bump to his finger about sent him into orbit. Your hubby will be in my thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear about this accident. Strong prayers that your
husband can heal quickly. I too hope he is not in to much pain. Did they
suggest soaking the hand or anything else until the Doc can check it out?
Seems like a long time to wait. :(

I'm so sorry to hear about Stuart's hand. :( I do hope they can save him finger!

I know how painful it is, I nearly cut one of mine off a few years ago. If he can keep the hand elevated, the pain will be less.

Best wishes!!

Hey Tamara...just wondering how Stewart is doing. Good I hope.
Just wanted to let you know I'm still thinking about him:)

Thanks, Anna, & everyone else. He's doing alright. The pain has subsided to a point where the pills at least help. He says they don't really take away the pain, but he doesn't care about it so much when he takes them! He sees the specialist on Monday. We are a little worried as he has no sensation in the fingertip right now and difficulty moving the finger beside it. The doc at the ER thought he might have some tendon damage. We'll know more after he sees the hand doc.
