I think the second best toy in the world for cats is the cardboard box. Bastet and Zaicha just love them. Its a real battle between the two as to who gets to sit in the box first. its also a race at who gets the feather stick (called a cat tickler in Australia) and the fish on the pole. But they also enjoy having a nap in them so for all those fur parents out there that need a little time out from kitty capers the simple cardboard box is the way to go!

Melani and Khaith love their cardboard boxes! :D
I saved a few in my room especially for Khaith since Mum always throws the boxes away.

My sister's Kisa must be a cardboard addict. No sooner does one enter our house does she follow you around until its opened and emptied and then she promptly makes herself at home and goes to sleep, only to start eating it later

Khaith in his "special green box" as we call it. Its the only box that he is territorial over. Any other pet that tries to sniff around it gets swatted at.
Khaith can be a bit unique at times.

My 'grandkitty' Virgil agrees that his second favorite toys are boxes, any shape or size. This is his latest, he has taken up residence and refuses to allow it to be set out for trash pickup..

Yep - my kitties LOVE boxes. It's always a treat for them when I come home from Costco. They especially like the small vegetable boxes. My black kitty will even try to stuff his large body into one of my shoe boxes. Hilarious!

I thought my two were not box kitties, however when I brought home just one more box for my move, Mishi proved me wrong. He immediately shocked me by jumping in, with a look like "OK mom, we can move now - I'm all packed." I have to download the pic from my camera .... soon! Soon!

Same thing here! Whatever box I bring home, the cats immediately claim it as theirs!! . Even the smallest shoebox is good enough for my biggie Maya :)

My cats love boxes too, especially Colette.

Actually, my two will get into anything...flowerpots, gym bags, cupboards, the space where a kitchen drawer fits when you take it out for cleaning, they just love those confined cosy spaces, don't they?
