I am looking into actually getting in to what I wanted to a a career as a younger person. I need to know if there is some one close to me here or someone could help me on line. I want to train dogs as handicaped helpers. What my real goal is to train drug or arson dogs , but want to start on any thing to get my foot in the door .
Sorry i've been gone a while but live happened here , we thought the cancer was back (hubby) so tons of doctors again , thankfully it wasn't. Did gain another dog thought it a newfy/reteiver mix Lady is 2 years old. and acts more like the ret. but with the newf body. Merlin is not inpressed at all! the cats get along ok . Ebony and lady (thegirls) gang up on poor old Winky and Merlin, the old guys can't take afternoon naps without a pestering. I have to put lady outside and lock Ebony in the bedroom.
I was glad to see Cinder and Smoke on again, I read but didn't have time to post any thing.
I'm looking once again for a job but with tourist season coming up I don't doubt I'll find something in Glaicer Park hoping for the gift shop in West Glaicer. sounds like fun place have had freinds who have worked there and they really enjoyed it. Time for a fun job for the summer. I have gotten rid of my hotmail acct.(too much porn ads) so if any one wants to contact me [email protected] . See ya all later.
Merlin says Hi and hair is growing back nicely, and hes on a diet again too much lazy winter naps.

Hello Corinna, and welcome back! I'm glad to hear that the cancer wasn't back again! That has got to be pretty stressful. **hugs** to you and your family!!
Congrats on the new furkid! She sounds precious!;) We want pics! LOL LOL
That's great about wanting to pursue your animal-related career. I too have been seriously thinking about it. For a long time I have felt this 'pull' towards a career with animals. Due to my lack of funds right now, I'm holding off until I can pay for Distance Learning classes from my old alma mater, Purdue! LOL
Anyway, to answer your question...I was just looking through the new Dog Fancy where the ads are in the back, and there are a lot of training opportunities available and some contacts. Also, Aly might have some suggestions for you. She really gave me some good ones awhile back when I was starting to think about pursuing this career, and now I'm really seriously looking into it;)

There are lots of organizations listed that you can contact from this site:
http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/service.html
and they may be able to help you find something near you.
There are also some good contacts and general information on the American Dog Trainers Network (http://www.inch.com/~dogs/service.html) so you can find who to call in your state. For Montana, the contact is:

**hugs**

I have the list on a web site that also includes the prison programs that train assistance dogs. I was hoping that some one knew some one I could go to see and talk to or correspond via computer. I have the same problem $$$$$$ . Working on Merlin's tracking and lady for theapy shes more congenal than the grumpy guy. All the neighborhood kids love her even those scared of dogs.
I have an interveiw tomorrow at a sports store in Whitefish, I know that lots of the huning and dog sport people shop there so it could solve to problems at once. Contacts and $$ for the bills. Lady eats lots more than Merlin. Shes still growing.
She was a rescue, An older lady was talking to my daughter at her job and said she had to find her a home cuz she was now raising her grand children and lady was knocking them down in her excitement and the baby was 2 years old. So Clarissa call dad and he looked at lady and brought her home. I really thought he won't cuz he knew if he did he couldn't get a chocolte one he has been looking for.And he thinks I'm a soft touch!!!!! Gotta go Thanks for the info and the welcome backs.
