Some of you may remember Kira. She was a foster dog I had a couple years ago. She came to me a half-starved scrawny little waif with separation anxiety.

I adored her. I still do. After about six months with us, Kira picked her new owner, a friend of my hubby's. Cam is an odd duck, a nice guy, but a bit of a hermit who just doesn't fit into modern society very well. He was over for dinner one night and Kira crawled into his lap and made herself at home. She wasn't a great match for us. She was not meant to be a working dog. She was the hardest foster I've ever let go; I cried for days when she left, but she had made it clear that she wanted to be with Cam. We saw her regularly until Cam moved down south over a year ago.
Christmas day Cam called us out of the blue. He was calling not say Merry Christmas, but to say thanks for Kira. Not only has she become his best friend, helped him cope with loss of his other dog, but she recently saved him from a bear! She even made the local paper for her bravery and devotion to her owner. Both Kira and Cam escaped uninjured.
Plus they are coming to visit in the spring!
