VHD strikes the USA again

VHD (viral haemorrhagic disease) reaches the staes again, it is a fatal rabbit disease. It is only the third case reportes in the US, first time was in Utah now a case has come up in New York this time.

Nobody knows how it got to New York, but there is virtually no restrictions over importation of live animals.

In the UK our rabbits can be vaccinated against this disease but no vaccination is available in the US as yet.

There are lots of vaccines that are avaliable in the UK that you can't get here in the states. This is because the Federal Regulations of vaccines are so tough that it is not always worth the drug company's money to try and get a new drug aproved.
