I am especially disturbed by this. Here is the article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051209/ap_on_re_us/midway_accident). Perhaps because I live so close to the airport?

Why were they cleared to land? It took me 90 minutes to get home last night and my commute is usually only 30-45 minutes at best. The roads were terrible.

Rest in peace, little boy. :(

That's the first thing I said as I watched the coverage on CNN last
night. I really didn't realize how small that airport was.(1 sq. mile )
I know it snowed so hard here during the storm, we had white-out
conditions. You couldn't see to walk, let alone drive. I feel so sorry
for the family in the car that was crushed. :(

I heard that at the time of clearance, conditions were okay, but a 'freak' heavy patch of snow started just as the plane was landing AND there was mechanical failure involved. The reverse thrusters were not working properly.

RIP little boy.

Gravity and no where to refill the tanks are two thoughts that came to mind.

There are three airports within 10 miles of my house....one is a small airport two blocks away.....every few years we have one plane that hits the gravity thing and it makes you wonder..
