I found a cool tutorial today for PS that I've been playing around with and its SO COOL and FUN and so I've been playing around with lots of pics. It's a VERY cool effect! Here are some resized examples (the resized examples do it NO JUSTICE, you have to view a full-sized below):

two more a little bigger:

And here is a full sized one:

It's over a 2MB image so it may take awhile to load!!! And this isn't even the highest quality either, I had to compress this image to make it smaller lol

ANYWAY I wanted to extend this offer to you --

The first five people who reply tonight I will make this image for you using a picture of your pet!! All I ask is that you send me a full sized original, high quality, and a picture taken in adequate lighting (not too dark or bright).. It doesn't even have to be a picture of your pet if you'd like one of your self or family, go ahead! I would offer a cartoon caption too but I haven't practiced those yet. Maybe that's a job for tomorrow eh??

I can't stress enough though how important it is to have a HIGH QUALITY image!! If the image isn't high quality to begin with, the finished product WILL NOT look that great. Here is one I did with a poor image, the original on the left and the finished on the right:

See how it turned out... not so good? LOL

EDIT AHH I made one of Charlie today... I LOVE IT! It's 2MB+ in file size though so as a forewarning to those of you on slower connections ;)

Naw its not but since I don't use PS normally it took a little longer for me at first. But regardless there are soo many steps it DOES take awhile lol

YEAH I KNOW what you mean!! Especially with a program I have hardly ever used before, lol. But surprisingly enough either they explained it really well or PS isn't as hard to use as I'd thought. ;)

Jessika

yeah I've found most automated programs though don't achieve as good quality as if you do it yourself though. I even downloaded the plugin for PS to automate the process, but I've found doing it yourself step by step you can really customize it and set your own levels for stuff instead of having it automated so it turns out much better!

could you do it once and save it as a layer style??

Jessika
12-09-2005, 11:30 AM
Yeah as I said though those one-click ones you normally don't get as good a product from though because all the settings are pre-set and settings that may work with one picture under one condition may not work on other pictures. That's why I like doing it step-by-step, that way you can fine-tune the settings to what looks good for that particular picture!

And Suki Wingy if you're talking about my tutorial, it uses like five layers or so.

Yes I do not believe it is compatible with PSP because PSP is lacking a lot of the functions that the tutorial requires. But it works flawlessly in PS :)
