Well, we're just about ready to be off for Squeeker's big day at the vet's! Squeeks is my sweet little guinea pig baby. He put in a request for a piggie pal a while ago, (a girl!) SO the BIG SNIP is a must before the union can be made!! In fact, the animal shelter requires "proof of surgery" before they will allow me to adopt a girl piggie! A good policy I think. The vet says he should be able to come home today. I'll let you all know how it goes! Can't believe how nervous I am!!:( Wheek!!! Wheek!!!:)

Oh brave Squeekers!!! I will be thinking about you today, my oooiiiiieeee oooiiiieeeee little friend.

A girl piggie, huh? You are one lucky little guy, and your mom is getting your girlie friend from a shelter...what a great mom :)

Good luck on your "nip & tuck" and enjoy your new pigette :)

Oh Squeekers, hopefully your mom will get her camera ready and when your new girlfriend comes home to live with you, she can take a picture of the two of you and introduce "Mr. and Mrs. Squeekers" to the Pet Talk Community!!

Good luck today.

A PIGGIE WEDDING?
The surgery you have today will be well worth it to get your new girl friend, Squeeker. We will, of course, want to see pictures. Hope you feel back to your sweet squeeky self soon. All the boys are excited for you getting a new friend. They also send their sympathies on your surgery. They all went through it too.(and they didn't even get girlfriends);) :D

1 hr. till I get to call the vet's!! Aggggggggh, I've been on pins and needles and have given myself a lovely headache, worrying. Isn't it easier being the one saying "Don't worry, it'll be fine!!" :D Well, we got there about 8:30. I didn't have a soft carrier, so yesterday I bought one, the type you wear in front like a baby carrier! He wa SO good, just sat quietly, all snuggled in his towel. He went to a new vet for today, (Dr. Paul doesn't "do" wheekers:() a woman who specializes in farm and small critters. I know he is in good hands! STILL!!!! When I made the appt., I was shocked to have been told to make sure I DO feed and water him this morning, pre-op!! My thought was, OMG, no anesthesia, or just a local...ouch! So, when we got there I asked why. Guess what?? Piggies can't puke! (Sorry, how un-me!:D) Yup, the valve in their stomach is one way........down! Imagine that! Plus, they are very prone to hypoglycemia under anesthesia and when stressed!! They said he will be on a respirator, EKG monitor, pulse oximeter, the works! Hey, nothing's to good for my Squeeker Man! LOL! Anyway, he was so calm and sweet. there was a HUGE, gorgeous parrot in the waiting room, sitting on his perch. Squeeks heard him start to talk, and it was love at first sight. I held him up to the cage and they began to chatter back and forth to each other like crazy! Squeeks couldn't stop purrrring! He loved him! Please, please, please, DO NOT allow me to get a bird. PLEASE!!:D Amazing how that little boy loves to talk and chatter with other animals. He bOiNgs, BoINgs, bOiNgS all over the place when the doggies and kitties sit by his cage. He is totally fearless when it comes to other creatures. And, he loves NOISE!! Drop, bang, slam, hammer, and he's in wheeker heaven, oinking away! He especially loves it when the dogs bark! Anyway, he got weighed on the "big boys" scale and then off he went! Oh, those big, brown eyes were looking at me like, 'Where you going Mom??" So, it should all be over by now! I've just cleaned and disinfected his house, I even bought a new dish and water bottle to make sure everything is "sterile" and clean to avoid any potential infection, and even bought him a new toy! So, now that's I've blabbed and bored you all, I think I'll start slowly heading for the phone! Thanks for listening! Check in later! Love, Sandra

You sound just like me when one of my 'babies' is at the vets. It's so hard to leave them. Please do let us know the minute (ok, as soon as possible) that you find out how the sweetie is. All the cats are hanging around the computer waiting with me.

Hehehe!!!! :D Roger and I think it is a terrific idea. What better bird mom than you!! If we can do it with all the terrorists that live in this house, you can too!!! :) Roger is right here by me right now, eating his millet seed and keeping me company (while he makes a huge mess).

Can't wait to hear how Mr. Squeekers is. Update us when you can!!! :)

The wee one is home, safe and sound, all snuggly in his house!:) As usual when the kids have a procedure, I made a HUGE fuss when they brought him out to me. But, how else could I react??? They had him all wrapped up in a towel with just his sweet little head, fur all askew, (you know, like shampoo hair spikes) eyes wide as , VERY groggy!! They shaved his belly and he was all painted with betadine!! Of course, as soon as they handed him to me, he made poopies and pee-d on my chest!:D Oh, and he got a manicure!! They told me that they board piggies, and I know that there he would get wonderful care! The office manager is a tech. specialist in pocket pets, and she handed me a zillion handouts on piggie care and health, and quizzed me (nicely) on my care and feeding of him. She's a real stickler for proper care and detail, so, should I need to, I will feel very comfortable leaving him with them. Of course, as soon as he saw Ben, the 15 yr. old Macaw, he perked up!!:) And Dr. Morgan does Greyhound rescue, and there was a lovely, senior Grey napping on the floor on her blankie! Nice place and people!! Squeeks just had a bit of pineapple and parsley and fresh water and is sleeping! So, everything's set for the "communion!" I got my "proof of purchase" certificate and in two weeks, we will go to the shelter to pick up his bride. They said I have to wait 2 whole weeks before she can come to live. Male piggies can still make babies up to 2 weeks after the "snip!" Boy, did I learn a lot today! Thanks "everbuddy" so much for being such supportive pals! You're the best! (And Squeekers say "wheeky wheeky" to you all! (That's "love you" in piggy jive!!:D) Love, Sandra

Squeekers! We are so glad you are home all safe and sound. The boys send a big old Wheeky Wheeky to you. Now would be a good time to get Mom to give you extra treats. If you look sad enough maybe a birdie buddy? Ya think? Hope you are all well soon.;)

{Huge sigh of relief} Squeekers you were such a brave little boy going in for your Sir Jury. I can just see your mom picking you up this afternoon and you with the *Woe is Me* look on your face and your *bed head*. I know you'll feel much better now that you can be back by Mommy to recouperate with the kitties and the doggers. They'll help take your mind off of what a bad day you had and soon you won't even remember it at all...the day when you meet your new little friend.

Oh Mr. Squeekers, we are so glad you are home safe and sound. Your mama bent over backwards today to make sure everything was sterile, warm and lovely for you. Aren't you going to be thrilled when your girlfriend arrives??? I think it is terrific that in two short weeks you will have a forever partner. We love you Squeekers!!! Good boy Wheeker-Squeeker!

Sandra did they do the whole "grease the eyes" thing? or is that just on buns? They greased--err..."lubricated" Sophie's eyes when they put her under...scared me to DEATH when they brought her out to me!!!! She had gooey eyes and bed head and was as groggy as all get out!!! oh it was scary...I almost bawled she looked so pitiful! The vet must've sensed this cos she immediately told me the 'whys' for grea-er..."Lubricating" :p

Good luck on the newbie wheeker! Do you have a 'hold' on a special lady at the shelter? Any names picked out yet?!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Between the dancin' Squeeker and Zippy's description of the great reunion, I don't know whether to laugh or cry:)! Katie, that is SOOO adorable! Thanks so much! And Zippy, I was so glad to see you had the same reaction as me at your reunion! Wasn't it heartbreaking? Yes, greased hiney and head!!! That's what make the hair spikeys!! And they grease the eyes to keep the corneas from drying out; as the eyes stay open! And he could hardly hold his head up. Now that was a pitiful sight! When I checked on him around 10pm, I found him asleep with his head in the food bowl! Hungry and tired! He is so adorable, love him lots!! Thanks for your sweet replys! I'll pass them along to Squeeks.

Hey Sandra! Did Star wake you up so early this morning??? 4:30 am?? That might be a record early post for you!!! :D

Hope the little fellow is doing better this morning. Bless his sweet heart. How about giving him a light kiss right on the top of his head for Helen and me.

The little man is back to his purrring self this morning! He can't have a tubbie for several days though, so he got a nice brushing, which he loved, and a big breakfast! He little belly is all shaved; so soft and warm!:) I can't keep my hands off him! All the other kids were very curious! All of those strange, new smells from the SirJury and the vet's office. Oliver slept by his side all night! what a pal! And Gio, I am standing firm, (woBbLE WoBbLe) NO BIRD!!:D

Logan, Star was sleeping soundly when I woke up myself! I fell asleep so early after my traumatic day!:D As they say, early to bed....

Glad to hear Squeekers is doing better and that he enjoyed the piggie doing the "Wheeky Wheeky " Dance.... It's been nice hearing about Squeeker lately. You made me pull out my old photo's of my Fleetwood (I'll see if Hubby will scan them). Fleetwood lived to be almost 11yrs. She was the greatest Guinea Piggie...It's been about 51/2 yrs. since she went to RB... We sure had fun together.....

Wheeky Wheeky Squeeks!

So glad to hear Squeeker's is doing well today! I've never had a guinea pig or any pet for that matter smaller than a cat. My mom has an aversion to anything that can "scurry"....
But I loved them as a child and used to go over the neighbors as a 4 or 5 yr old and sit in front of the cage and stare at their piggie. Poor thing, I probably gave him a complex!
I don't however, Sandra, think I will ever have one! Especially after you said that Squeeker's peed and p**ped on you! EEWW:eek:
How do you keep the dogs from wanting to chase him? I'm always amazed by all these Pet Talk households with dogs and cats and guinea pigs and birds and they all live in peace!! I don't think I could ever bring in another pet smaller than Duncan....
