I've never known a lizard to be playful. Reptiles generally aren't super playful and sociable. Aim for your interaction with him to be stimulating with as little stress and as much security as possible.

One of my Bearded Dragons(Almond), chases a kitty toy. At first I figured she just wanted to eat it, but she doesn't try to eat it at all-just chasing :D
