Puzzle 117: This animal is a huge, thick-skinned, almost hairless mammal. It is the largest of extant four-footed animals, with a long, flexible snout and two ivory tusks growing out of the upper jaw. These animals were seen in the films Jumangi, Operation: Dumbo Drop, Dumbo and The Jungle Book. They evolved from the even larger prehistoric mammoth which appeared millions of years ago. The mammoth roamed in great herds over Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. The oldest mammoth bones, found in India, are over 4 million years old. Mammoths became extinct following the Ice Age. They are in the order Proboscideans. They can be found in woodlands, grasslands, and forests in Africa and parts of Asia. They can live up to 70 years, weigh 5,000-14,000 pounds and stand 6-12 feet at the shoulder. In the wild, they spend most of their day looking for food, needing 400-600 pounds of food a day, of which only 40% is digested. The diet includes grass, tree foliage, bark, twigs, herbs, roots, and fruit. A herd averages 4 mph in their single file walking but can charge at 25 mph if angered or frightened. Just learned something new - that I can't edit a post and attach a file, but here is a list of the previous used puzzles, which Fuzzy was so kind to post. I've put them in a Word. txt. one after the other, that should make it easy to keep them updated after each puzzle. :)

Since I could not attach a Word.doc. I saved it as txt. so the formatting disappeared. But, you can always save it as a doc.

Resembling a small squirrel with large ears and a tufted tail, these rodents are sometimes referred to as the poor mans chinchilla. It is the most common mammal in Chile, numbering more than 100 per acre. They have large, bright, dark eyes and long whiskers. The fur is soft to the touch and brown to gray brown in color with a paler shade of yellow brown found above and below the eyes. The belly hair is creamy yellow. The tail is fragile and can easily seperate from the body. The grinding surface of the cheek teeth resembles a figure eight shape, giving the family it's scientific name, Octodontidae, meaning "eight teeth. " They enjoy taking dust baths. They are quickly becoming a favorite companion among animal lovers, however they are illegal in some states.

I have been domesticated for a while now and have become a very popular pet rodent. I make several vocalizations including loud chirps or squeeks when I am frightened. Some of us are born with large round ears set low on the head. This is referred to as being a "DUMBO". Can you guess what I am ?

"Look deep into the eyes of any animal, and then for a moment, trade places, their life becomes as precious as yours and you become as vulnerable as them. Now smile if you believe all animals deserve our respect and our protection, for in a way, they are us, and we are them."

The Meaning of Rescue:
I loved them,the others,
the ones who left me,but I wasn't good enough...for they didn't want me
will you add to my baggage ?will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things and take me right back ?
Do you have time to help me unpack ?
to put away my baggage, to never repack?
I pray that you do,I'm so tired you see,but I do come with baggage
Will you still want me?

Do not weep for me when I am gone
For I have friends in the great beyond.
All the little ones I used to feed
WIll come to me in my time of need.
They will purr and bark in great delight,
And I will hold and hug them tight.
Oh what a great day that will be
When my furry friends all welcome me.

Because they are so gregariously sociable, and because they consider us to be their pack leaders, dogs crave our attention.
Being touched is soothing and reassuring for dogs, just as it is for us. Stroking your dog reduces its blood pressure, its heart rate, and its skin temperature. It calms its sense of arousal. Dependent dogs demand attention most, but even dominant, aggresive canines solicit attention from a strong human leader.
