We will practice as hard as we can for as many events as is kitty-ly possible, but meantime in anticipation have booked our flights from Glasgow Airpurrrt.

In order to keep in with the fashion set en-piste Miss Candy, as we speak, is scouring the shops for some fetching salopettes and matching bobble hat.

One thing it would be good to clarify though is the catering arrangements. What's sort of local kitty fare should one expect i.e. tinned, pouches or is it roast meat and fish all the way?

Thanking the Committee in anticipation of a response,

Yours in sport,

Max, Candy and Tom. :D

We were thinking of entering a squad in the synchronized heater sleeping, but after seeing Filou and Tigris in training, we decided to concentrate elsewhere.
We think Pippin still has a lock on Gold in Wall Exercise with his Pip-Flip routine...(the attachment is Pippin in the World Cat Games last year in Las Vegas)

And Willy and Scooter Pie have agreed to enter as a synchronized spinning team. They are still in training, so no video at this time.
We expect to be sending all 6 catestants- a large contingent we admit, but it is important to the pride of the Tribe that all compete and they are looking forward to meeting everyone in Italy.

Don Juan and Zerlina are looking forward to the Synchronized Sleeping contest, as well as their specialties in Lap Curling (Don Juan) and Milk Ring Hockey (Zerlina).

There may be a little delay in their getting to the site, as they are having some trouble booking a flight. For some reason, the reservation agents at Southwest have trouble understanding Don Juan's pronunciation of the destination. And Zerlina hasn't yet succeeded in typing the password on my iMac. :D

Fister is glad he didn’t miss the opportunity to join the Catolympics. He has been training for the “Bobsleigh race”, if this event is taking place. I think he has a fair chance, even on his oldfashioned one. ;)

Now that I’ve told him about it, he is eager to go, but he wants to know about the catering arrangements and what kind of accomodation to expect - he has never been to Italy before.

I’ll be looking for flights and will book his ticket, as soon as we know the dates of the events. :D

Gary, your cat piling I think is definitely shouting, "GOLD"

Pippin, you sure are a shoo-in for the Pip-Flip. That video was a hoot to watch.

Catolympics! I love it! Tabitha will be going for the gold in the loudest purr with contact to a hoomans face!

And it sounds as if Sasha will have some stiff competition in the milk ring hockey event. She practices every day, and she has gotten quite good at throwing the ring into the air and catching it in her mouth! She will keep practicing.... every day, every spare moment (that would be when she isn't tormenting her sister or sleeping!)

I can hardly wait for more details before making flight arrangements!

All very good competitions, but what about Most Creative Method Of Waking A Human In The Morning? My Striker would take the bronze at least with his Feline Paper Torture; that is, tearing mail order catalogs with his teeth (this sound like a leaf shredder when you're half asleep). I'm worried. Cassy and Livvy have filched my wallet and took over the keyboard all evening. They assure me they've booked their tickets and are 'good to go'. Does anyone know when the events are?

Both are entered in wrestling; Cassy is both a milk jug ring retriever and hockey puck ring under the fridge guy. Livvy is up for figure skating and for synchronized sleeping if she can find a partner other than her brother.

I need everyone's help.

Keeping the masses informed about the Games is going to be a huge task. During the 2004 Games we were able to pull them off with the help of some VERY TALENTED people who donated their time and expertise with Photoshop and other things.

A shout out to Kirsten, who came up with the original thread and was able to put together the team photos!!!

Anyone who would like to volunteer some time to put together the team photos, do some reporting and/or scheduling, It would be appreciated!

Because of all the disciplines in the '04 games - some sports and competitors were overlooked! In order to keep order and make sure that every Cat-petitor has their "golden moment" captured for the thread, suggestions for events will close on January 10, 2006!

That way we can figure out the competition schedule and the medal ceremonies..

Thanks! The International Feline Games Committee appreciates your interest!

I tried finding this thread the other day.

My trio would like to enter for synchronised treats
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/runningdad/synchronised-1.jpg

Allen and Pouncer have a chance (I hope) at winning the synchronised sleeping event -- just look at that nose to nose move!

and most certainly Abby and Pouncer would be strong contenders for championship hissing!

Pouncer would like to know if there is a computer balancing competition? Here he is completeing the tricky "back side out" move
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/runningdad/RearView.jpg

And surely there must be a unusual balance competiton! Here is Pouncer again balancing upon a box of Dunkin Donuts (the unofficial sponsors of the cat-olympics????)

Harry would like to enter the limber sleeping competiton

Cat-Olympics Report- Minus 9 days to the opening of the Games!

Yesterday the Cat-theletes Village opened with a ribbon chasing ceremony.
(It was supposed to be a ribbon CUTTING ceremony, but the attendees thought that chasing the ribbon was far more fun!)

And even though the security forces had some problems with plastic bags of cat nip being brought into the village the ceremonies went off as planned and
all eyes are focused on the ceremonies themselves.

Questions of who will bring the Cat Olympic flame into the arena have begun, along with who will be the Official Mascot. A preview of the Costumes for the Parade of Nation was met with positive comments from the participants, With the exception of the German men....

Braids were traded for lederhosen and all signs point to a great 2006 Cat Olympic Games!

They had a little pow wow over the weekend and have decided to go together. They are not sure which events to participate in, but they will, I am sure, find at least one event for each kitty.

I have packed their naps sacks and they are off to Italy over this weekend. I hope they can find a place to stay and not have to stay outside in the cold. It is cold here in Vermont but they stay inside all the time. Too bad the bunnies cannot go to keep them warm.

I trust Miley will keep everyone in line and not allow the little ones to stray too far from her side. Juni will be the one to watch.

I hope they meet up with other PT kitties too!

Can't wait!

Filou is very happy that his Aby friends from Vermont won't have to see him in braids but in cool Lederhosen. He says it is right that winter in Upper Italy is quite cold this year but that they will for sure find a fireplace where they can curl up in front. ;)

He says it's a pity that there are no climbing competitions at the winter Olympics as he would love to be part of an International Monkey team.

Olympic Village a 'cat'-cophany of sounds and sights!

With four more days before the opening ceremonies to the Games, the Village is slowly coming to life as the Cat-theles slowly tickle in. Many of the particpants are renewing old friendships and making new ones as their participation in their events draw near.

Some of the younger athletes have been seen catting around and having a few catnip parties into the early evening, but most of them have been keeping their eyes on the prize- the Gold Medal!

This reporter will try to give you up to date reports from the Village until the Opening Ceremonies!!

Security Alert bulletin!

Security forces were put on alert when a wooden crate, with an address originating in the United States, was left at the gates of the Athlete's Village.

Members of the Bomb Squad were preparing to detonate the package when two as yet unidentified American athletes came forward to claim the box.

They assured the Polizia that the box did not contain and illegal or banned substances and opened the crate in the presence of officials.

As of yet those Cat-theletes have not been identified, nor has the contents of the crate.

We're late getting settled into the Village but will be hosting a little Partee for fellow Catheletes this evening in our suite. Look for our Team Flag...

Feb. 11-13
Sprinting/Running - Percy, Tiger, William, Scooter

February 12-14
Hiding - Norbert, Pippin
Synchro sleeping - Percy & Norbert (Pairs competition only)
Synchro eating - Tiger & Scooter (Pairs competition only)
Synchro sitting - Tiger & Scooter (Pairs competition only)

Feb 15-17
Yoga in the box - Pippin
Cat nip Toy Hunting - Scooter

Feb 18-20

Well, hello there...!!

Wonder if anyone remember us?? We have been very busy, Bella and I (and stressed out and ill and busy again, actually! ) but we don't want to let Randi and Fister down on this great event!

Bella would like to offer her services as a referee in any discipline you would want since nothing - absolutely nothing - will escape her unflinching eyes. Her capacity of staring is quite awesome, and she usually succeeds in making new acquaintances uneasy...

Here is the picture to prove it!

So how about it? Are we in??

Good luck to everybody!

Let the games begin!

Fans, proud parents and spectators have filed into the Olympic Stadium for the Opening Ceremonies of the First EVER Winter Cat-olympics..

The wait is over.....it's time to particpate, compete and play....

The lights are lowered and crowd is hushed......a spot light illuminates the entrance and

The Pet Talk Olympic banner makes it's entrance!!!

The crowd comes to it's feet and the thundering applause is deafening!!!

As the Olympic flag makes its way around the edge of the stadium the
Pettalkville flag makes it's entrance!!

(Before anything else happens I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart,

Ladies and Gentleman...

The Parade of Nations is about to begin!

I just wanted to make a note of the costumes being worn by all the participants. They were all designed and modeled for the IFGC by Edwina of Southern California.

The IFGC wants to thank her for her time, designs and modeling talents...

Here is the first team....
Representing Bahrain!!!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid201/p37b480eea46274b72b7fa0d93eba64ae/f03a7148.jpg

Bahrain is one of the smaller nations represented at these games, but do not be fooled.....they are entered in a few events and have great discipline!

And following Team Bahrain...

Team Canada!

Canada...being a cold coutry is ALWAYS a force to be dealt with at any winter competition!!!

And on a side note.....Team Catalonia is still trying to figure out the events and team they will send to compete.......

More on that story later on!!!

RICHARD

Oh, oh....Olly has scurried to the center of the stadium and some of the competitors have seen him.....

OH NO.....there is a mad dash to the stage where the Olympic Flame is to be lit...

OLLY!! LOOK OUT!!! It seems that a mouse wasn't the best choice for a mascot ;)

Pandemonium has broken out, Cats are running everywhere! It's madness out on the floor.......The Security people have fromed a cordon around Olly..

It's O.k., everyone take your seats! PLEASE.....

Well be right back....we are taking a break to have order restored!!!!

RICHARD
02-10-2006, 05:42 PM

Now that we have order restored in the stadium it is time for the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron.

And here comes the Torch...

It's being brought in by..

Edward K Katz.........the firebug..OOPS!...one of the United States cat- thletes

He is approaching the cauldron and the Olympic Flame Has been lit...

If its not too late for another Scottish entry, my Candy as you see has been practising hard for the balance beam event

you will note the 180 degree turn she has introduced

Why, Tom is quite the gymast too in the male balance beam competition

And the Sleeping-Comfortably-in-Odd-Places event..

THREE DAY RECAP!

With the sprinting/running, litter rolling and elevator butt competitions over, so many Cat-petitors truly have given their best efforts.

In all the short history of the Cat-Olympics this reported has never seen the cat-thleticism during the first three days of these games.

At the sprinting venue all distances were run....everyone a GOLD MEDAL winner!

There have only been a few incidents that have been a cause for concern at these Games...

The litter rolling competition was halted when the venue was filled with litter dust, doors had to be open to air the place out.

Also the elevator butt competition signs caused some of the foreign visitors to line up outside the stadium waiting for a ride to the upper floors!

Otherwise, the Games have gone on without a hitch.

The hiding, eating, syncho sleeping and sitting competitions are all in full swing at the moment...more from the games tomorrow!!

Olly welcomed into the Cat-thele's village

After a scary start to the Games, Olly has been welcomed with open paws and maws into the village....Some of the Cats joked with Olly by posing with his head in their mouths.....Olly stated, "I understand the excitement at the opening ceremonies....all is forgiven!"

Giant Crate mystery solved!

According to Games Officials the mystery crate, that caused such a panic at the village was none other that a giant box of Nip, Temptations and Whiskas cat food.....Cat-theletes pooled their money to bring over stuff to trade with the other members of the Games!

Oh no! Can the judges help some very eager athletes enter the games, even if a bit late? Meowmie has been beside herself with work that she has not had time to get their tickets together for the flight over! Can you take pity on some young talent and allow them to participate in the games?

If so, what events are next so the kitties can begin to warm up!
