Hi, my parents and I went to the International Cat Show yesterday and we all had a great time. It's the largest cat show that I've ever been to and it was my parents very first show. I learned a lot about cats and was able to take some decent pictures of them while they were outside of their cages. Enjoy! :)

These first two pictures are cats that have been trained from the Iams company.

Here's a Maine Coon pushing a shopping cart.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/34f9d20e.jpg
Here's an 8 year old cat that was feral. She seemed to have more energy than the rest of the cats. She's walking the tight rope.

Cat Agility:
Here are two pictures showing the mazes for cat agility. Unfortunately, none of the cats that I saw knew how or wanted to go through all of the tunnels, hoops, stairs etc. Any cat was eligible for a $10 entry fee and they had 3 different tries to do this.

I sat in the first row and listened to a woman talking about the different breeds of cats. It was called the "Breed Showcase". Here are the cats that she showed us.

Red Abyssinian:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/f51d5c5e.jpg

Norwegian Forest Cat: This cat was so sweet and kept putting his paws on the lady's chest and giving her kisses. He reminded me so much of my Sky and now I'm sure that he has some of this breed mixed in with him.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/9b3eb0d7.jpg

Chartreux: I think this one is 8 years old and a retired champion.

Russian Blue: This is a male and I think that he's also won many awards.

Japanese Bobtail: This breed comes from Japan and is known as a typical street cat there. They can also come in many different colors but this one is known as Meko.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/6aa0e876.jpg

Persian: This seems to still be the most popular breed because I saw more of them at the show than any other breed.

Burmese: These are the most intelligient of the Siamese breed. They're also great lap cats.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/403d1f17.jpg

Siamese: Although they look very lean and thin, they weigh a lot because they're so muscular. This is a Lilac Point Siamese.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/6a2b72d4.jpg

Tonkinese: This orginally came from cross breeding the Burmese with the Siamese. They are highly intelligent, have a wonderful sense of humor, are very affectionate lap cats, and have gregarious personalities. My mom said that she'd love a cat like this.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/47f2c652.jpg

Birman: This breed is very gentle, polite, out going, and affectionate. My dad seemed to really like this one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/c37cd225.jpg

Occicat:This male just turned 8 months old and he'll double his size by the time he's an adult.

Sphynx: Although they may look hairless, they do have a few hairs on their body. This one looks like he's on the slim side because they usually have pot bellies too.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/866ffb7e.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/krazyaboutkatz/59714d20.jpg

American Short Hair: This is one of the 2 natural breeds from the United States. The other one is the Maine Coon. These are also very quiet cats.

WOW! You took LOTS more than I did - I think I got about 5 pics. There seemed to be aisles and aisles full of Persians - perhaps they are the #1 breed in America.

I also was happy to see lots of Sphinxes. Some of them did have pot bellies and reminded me of MooShoo.

There used to be Cat Shows in Hamilton, but there hasnt been one for years, and the ones that they have in Toronto are not Bus Friendly.
Those are some to die for Gorgeous Cat,I especially like The Red Abyssian.

Rats. Now I'm REALLY mad that I couldn't go to the show.

Thank you for ALL the great pictures! :)

I think if I had to pick a breed, I'd like a Japanese bobtail.

BTW, was that huge red Maine Coon we saw at the San Jose fairgrounds there? One of my auditions was for an adaptation of The Magician's Nephew (the first Narnia book), and I think he'd make a great Aslan.

Wow! Great photos, and thanks for taking and sharing them! Beautiful kitties, every one of them. Though I will say I worry about the breathing ability of the currently trendy really-flat-faced Persians. And this way, by you taking the photos, I could see all those different cats and not need an inhaler! ;)

Oh my gosh! What great pictures! Looks like it was a very interested show to attend. This show comes to CA every year, right? I would love to attend it next year. I'm bummed I couldn't make it.

OMG! *drools over gorgeous russion blue kitty* :D

Wow! :D
What beautiful photos!
Like Barbara, I just adore that handsome red Aby and that Russian Blue is quite the looker too.
I just had to kiss my computer screen when I saw that adorable close up of the Russian Blue.
Where is our friend Nakita? I bet she would love to meet that handsome Blue boy. ;)
The Burmese is just beautiful tool :)
Did you use your flash when you took the photos?
When I went to our local cat show in January, we weren't allowed to use the flash on some kitties because it frightened them.
Thanks again for posting such wonderful photos. :)

I can't show Nakita that pic of the beautiful blue boy. She would probably try to run away tonight and buy a one way ticket to California! ;)

Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I love the variety of felines. You're so lucky that you have so many cat shows in your area....I'm jealous! ;)

Great pictures RedHedd. I've also fallen in love with the Birman breed. :)

Wolflady- No, the International Cat Show is held in different locations each year and this was the first time that it was held in the Bay Area. I have no idea where it will be held next year. It's also always held in November from Fri.-Sun. the weekend before the Thanksgiving holidays.

Vermontcat- Yes, I did use my flash and no told me that I couldn't either. I've tried taking pictures without it but they're usually too dark.

I'm glad that you're all enjoying the pictures. I wish I had taken more but I was enjoying myself too much. :)

Oh MY!!! I don't know when I last enjoyed one thread so much!! Those pictures are just terrific and I oooed and ahhh'd over each one and felt like I was there with you at the show!! The red Aby and the Blue Russian just take my breathe away!! The red color is so rich and beautiful...and I also thought of p[retty Nakita when I saw that RB boy!!

The Maine Coons are ...OH MY!!! So big and almost wild looking. They seem quite the opposite of the Aby's and Blues....but I also think every wonderful quality that makes me love cats so much - is shown in the pictures. The Scottish Fold looks like such a sweetheart - so rounded!

I loved seeing and reading about the different breeeds. I would have enjoyed sitting at that part of the show and watching.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing all of these pictures.

Thanks, everyone. The International is the largest cat show in the U.S. I heard that before I went, and when I got there I was blown away! I think they said there were close to 900 cats there! I feel so lucky to have been able to try to take in all of it - it was HUGE! That's too bad that it isn't always in my 'hood, but I guess we have to share :D

Wow. Gorgeous, KAK and RH, loved the photos. I finally figured out what needed to be done to show on my monitor! (Pathetic how much trouble I have getting my puter to go...) Lovely. I feel like I at least got a virtual tour of the show. Thank you both!
