Two different threads today here in this section, I have not been able to read. I click on it and I completely am not on PT anymore.. Just within a bat of the eye, I am off of PT. I come back, opens up other threads and read them with no porblem and get brave and go back, click on one of those threads and BAM, I am off PT again... Just all to weird!

Nope, not for me. But that is really strange. Maybe you have a virus on your computer? Or someone hijacked it? Not to scare you, but that used to happen to me all the time after someone hijacked my computer.

One of Richards threads and one of Flatcoatluvers. I tried again this morning and it is still doing it. I recentely added a new program and was thinking it might be that.

Virus scan comes up clean, how do you find out if you have been hijacked? I am lost on that kind of stuff..

It only happens (so far) in this section....

That is a hacking program. I forgot what its called, but that happens to my computer all the time. It's not a virus, but its more like spyware. It will more and likely start happening more often now. I can't get it out of my computer either. It annoys me.

It happened to me yesterday when I clicked on an attached photo. Opened it in a non-signed on window but the signed on window was open as well.

Strange that it's only certain threads! Perhaps Karen or Paul has an idea what's happening. Are you all on XP?

What browser are you using?? Internet Explorer users are more vulnerable for browser hijacking and spyware attacks because its a very insecure browser. I recommend switching to FireFox (you can read the thread about it here: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?p=1325523 ).

As for spyware and malware, etc, I strongly recommend downloading, installing, and running these programs multiple times a week (if you don't already!)

- Microsoft AntiSpyware
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- AdAware
- AVG AntiVirus
- OPTIONAL PeerGuardian

I have all programs and run them AT LEAST weekly if not every other day and also use FireFox and my computer has not had ANY problems concerning viruses or browser hijackings in... almost two years now :)

EDIT: OH I forgot to add, a good program to use if your browser gets hijacked (or for IE) is a Browser Hijacker removal. I can't think of a specific program to use since I haven't needed one in years after switching from IE to FireFox.

I just had it happen on another sight I went to. I will go to My PCclinic and ask how to find out if I've been hijacked... Just started happening yesterday out of the blue. I added that system machanic Sunday and things were fine until this happened...

Another good browser is Opera, for both e-mail and web - at least on windows.

I am using XP and internet explorer. I did the trends scan and it came up clean. Did the Avast visus scan, came up clean, did the System Mechanic scan, clean! Everything keeps coming up clean.. I have looked at Hijack This and that is way to complicated for me to try. Maybe when I have a clamer day without anything else on my mind.. If it gets to bad, I will pop in the old factory CD and wipe it clean... I will try hijack this before I do that since then if I goof, it won't matter.

Perhaps try using another browser for the time being until you get the problem sorted out? I recommend FireFox. As I'd always mentioned, its wise to switch from IE anyway since IE has many security holes!
