This has been a tumultuous month for us, so I haven't been able to post at all. My 86-year-old mother fell and broke her shoulder :( :( and I've been dealing with that--she's currently in rehab and doing good. Then we were hit hard by Hurricane Wilma, lost internet access for over two weeks, and we're still doing clean up around the house. In the middle of all this, Esther, the standard poodle we were fostering, was adopted out to a wonderful family further north in the state. She now has 5 acres! of land to run around, 2 dog siblings, and teenagers to play with. Here's a picture of her with her new Dad (I've scrambled his face to protect his privacy).

I know you can't see his smile, but his grin matches her's. We've heard from them a couple of times and she's doing wonderfully!

The day before the hurricane we got a new foster, which we've named Dudlee. He came out of a shelter south of us, and was rescued by a lovely couple who paid his neuter fee and then surrendered him to us. It really renews my faith in the human race when I meet people like this.

Here he is:

And here's a pic of 3 of the 4 dogs currently residing at our house, in their favorite couch potato poses.

Dudlee was called a poodle mix by the shelter, which is why we got him, but we're not sure there's any poodle in him at all. Our best guess is a bichon/jack russell mix. But he's cute as a button, and is fitting right in with our dogs. He had a bad case of kennel cough when we got him, but that's finally clearing up, and he'll be ready to adopt soon.

Congratulations on finding a good home for Esther. :) Good work!
Dudlee is a cutie, but I agree, there doesn't seem to be much poodle in him. How wonderful of you to take in another foster so quickly. So how do Greta, Cassius and Chip (is that right?) feel about the fosters? Although, I guess if that picture is any indication, they are perfectly fine with it. How Cute!!! :)

I wish I could take credit for finding Esther such a wonderful home, but really it is the rescue organization we work with, Coastal Poodle Rescue. Here is their URL, in case you're curious

There are some really tireless, selfless people in this group, who believe that this is their calling and have literally devoted their lives to it. We can screen the application from a prospective adoptee, and have the final say on any dog in our home, but it is their efforts that make these placements so special.

I am very proud of our dogs, Greta, Cassius & Chip, for being so tolerant of the new dogs we bring in. For Esther and Dudlee, it was less than a few hours before everyone was comfortable with each other. I am especially proud of Greta, who is dog aggressive at any park we take her to, whot not only tolerates strange dogs in her house but wants to make friends with them and play.
