We went back to the vet today, again, for a check up.
The vet said that we still can't rule out an inner ear infection. Since he has been on meds only for a week they want to continue on for two.
After that, she said that I may want to have a neurologist do some tests on him to see if he has nerve damage of some kind.
All this sounds pretty expensive. I didn't know that there were dog neurologists.... sigh.
I would prefer to just leave him as he is. He is perfect to me. My husband would like to pursue a specialist if necessary.
We'll see.

That's where pet insurance comes in handy. Yep, they have opthalmologists, cardiologists, every kind of specialist these days. I pray it's nothing more serious than his poor little ears.

Mandy saw cardiology specialist both at Cleveland and OSU. Yes it's expensive, but maybe not as bad as you're thinking. I will still hope and pray there is no need, that Frankie simply does have an ear infection. :)

Hoping that it is just an infection, and that Frankie is back to normal in not time. Kisses to both of those cuties.

I didn't know there were doggie eye doctors until Peej needed one. ;) It's not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. I hope the same will be true with the neurologist.

Hang in there Frankie. You've got all of PT pulling for you, little man. You're gonna be fine. :)

(((hugs))) to Frankie, Beenie and Carmen. :)

I hope that it is still just an inner ear infection or something easy treatable.

Specialists are expensive, but sometimes not as much as you think. Personally I'd get it done as it may help him. It may also give you some information on what to expect in the future. If it is a neurological problem you may be dealing with other related problems in the future, like seizures, which is one of the most common symptoms/problems of a neurological problem. Getting some info on that before it starts sure would be helpful, especially if it is something that you can treat or control before they start.

What ever it may be we are here for you. We wish you the very best of luck.

Let's hope it's only an infection. Is he showing many signs of improvement?

Hugs and kisses to both your little terrorists! ;)

No improvement. He's been on meds for 11 days now.
My bosses vet referred me to a doggie neurologist.
He is in the same town as my MIL (about an hour away) and we have an appointment for November 3rd.
My hubby will be taking him for the consult/second opinion and MRI if this vet thinks it's necessary.
This vet is charging $150.00 only for the consult... no tests. Sheesh!

Hope it is nothing serious. Maybe you will see some improvement before that. Fingers crossed.
