Your city isn't in our database. We'll update the database soon."

Gary, I added you. I typed in catmandu (Gary) and then clicked out Outside the U.S. Then, I typed Hamilton in the City box and a list of Hamilton's showed up so I chose Ontario. Hope you don't mind.

Too funny Gini! :D The cool thing is you can click on the names to the right, and their "shout out" comes right up and you can cyber wave back to them. And it allows you to do a world tour without even packing any bags. :eek: I'm still playing around with the features, but what a fun way to learn geography. ;) :) And you can keep adding "shout outs" as well. :cool:

Are you referring to the link not working? Or are you unable to get your name up? It won't work unless you type into the "shout out" box, and click underneath...then you'll be added. ;) NH is on the map already with a few members, so you should be able to get on it too. :confused:

You can't put a country/city code into the Zip field on several different systems. For our members at work we have to put the country/postal code in the city field and leave the Zip field blank or the system tries to find a US city to match it to. No doubt Carole's postal code in the zip code for parts of DC. For many countries you can start the country code with a letter and it will work (i.e. I-73021 Roma Italy) or D-57021 Munich Germany

Popcornbird it may look crowded, but if you click on the names to the right, as opposed to the "pushpins" on the map, it scrolls across to where you are, and what you SHOUT OUT! :D :p I knew this would be a great place to put this, and it's so fun to see where all the far aways live. :) Now if only Carole could get back to New Zealand........ :( But she's welcome to stay in D.C lol! :D

Freckles, I figured out (at last) how to do moderating, and if anyone wants something to be deleted, let me know, and I'll delete it. PM is fine) It may help having the previous persons name mentioned, so I don't accidently delete the wrong thing. ;) I also changed the map setting to the entire world so we don't have to scrolllllll. :p

Actually it got me fairly close to where I live as well, on the right side of the river and the right side of the tracks. By navigating the overhead picture I could zero right in on my house. :cool:

It's not very dangerous because it doesn't put the dot on your house or even your street necessarily - it doesn't even ask for a specific address, but just where it counts as the center of whatever postal code you type. Unless you live at the post officel, you're pretty darned safe!

For the last couple of months, I've been having problems with the map. It says there are 190 markers, but I can only access 50 or 100 at a time. When I try to access the last 40 I get
"Warning Unresponsive script
A script on this page may be busy or not responding. You can stop the script now or you can continue to see if the script will complete. It freezes and I never see all the markers."

I've tried it this morning and it seems to work for me. I'm not getting that message anyway, although some of the markers seems to take a while to show up. I am also slightly mystified as to why G535 (Victoria, Australia) appears to have relocated to Arkansas? Is she trying to throw us off the scent, I ask myself? :D

I just added myself :D but I am having the same problem as Freckles just without the message. Everytime I reload the page different markers come up and others disappear. Hmmmm :confused:

Edit: I can see everyone when zoom in. And it doesn't show exactly where I live, I typed in the town I lived in, and then for some reason it found the EXACT steet I live on which I was not happy about. Plus I've just looked in outlook express and I've got a ton of suspicious e-mails there, so I've changed where I live to Lancashire, and it seems to have put me somewhere around London :rolleyes:
