My beautiful Misty's gotcha day was on September 30th. I've been so busy lately I haven't had the time to make a thread, but better late than never. I don't know if any of you remember Misty's arrival story, so I will retell the tale...
On September 23rd last year I was outside feeding my rabbits when I suddenly heard a faint meow from behind me. I turned around and saw poor Misty, terribly thin, matted, starving and lonely. She could get enough cuddles and pets from me and wouldn't stop rubbing up against me. I think she was terrified I'd leave her! I ran to house and my Mom and I fed her a tin of wet food and three dishes of dry food and she INHALED them! As I looked her over I noticed a tatoo in her ear but wasn't able to read it. I named her Misty, since she had mist colored fur.
My Mom was worried she might be diseased and Squeekers would get sick so she made me leave Misty outside :(. The day I went to school and raced home hoping I could find her. As soon as I began walking up the driveway she came bounding out to greet me. We took her down to the the vet clinic and their had been no report of her being missing but the clinic was able to read her tatoo and give us the owners number. We also learned her name was "Missy" which I though was kind of ironic since I had been calling her Misty. :p
We called them and got no reply for 2 days... my Mom told me we couldn't care for Misty anymore and had to take her to the SPCA. The people at the SPCA told us that the owners would have 5 days to claim her and if they didn't she would belong to the SPCA. I'll never forget leaving Misty in the cage at the SPCA... she was so sad and I was heartbroken but my Mom promised me that if she wasn't claimed we'd adopt her.
Three days went by and we recieved a phone call from the owners. They told us they had claimed Misty and thanked us very much for finding her. I was furious... I didn't see how they could care for her they hadn't even bothered looking for her, or reported her missing! Then two days later the SPCA phoned us and asked is we were still interested in adopting Misty because she was never claimed! :D :D :D
I'm glad that Misty found us.
Then, she barely weighed 6 lbs
