Reunions and homecoming is the perfect theme for Thursdays this week! I'll be going back to Purdue University to homecoming this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it. I really miss being at university sometimes, so it's nice to get back and walk around the campus and take part in homecoming festivities.

One Mai Tai please!

**hugs**

I love Mai Tais and deep fried turkeys, so, I'm in for this week's thursday reunion. I had fun at my high school reunion, although I didn't enjoy high school that much until my last two years! ;) I'm not wearing what I wore in high school, though. Nope. I hope you all are having a good day, though, just thought I'd throw that out there! I will toast to my teachers, though, in accordance with the theme this Thursday. :)

Oh Hail, Oh Hail!!!!

Ok, ok, my faithful subjects, you may rise now. No need to grovel, you'll all get served whether I'm here or not. ;) :D

Yes, it was me that mentioned the reunion, although....I've been called a "broad" before, but....what's a "bord"? ;) :D Oh wait, that's what my brothers always told me my chest resembled.

Had a good time at the reunion. About 10:30 pm Terry says, so is there anybody else you want to talk to? I said "Nope, never talked to them in high school, why start now?" So we left. :p

I'll take a Mai Tai, but can we make it not taste like coconut? If not, just give me a good ol' slushie.

Levis big bells were my jean of choice in high school. Hip huggers they were called then - not low rise - what the heck is with this low rise anyway?

Mario, you are so adorable in your little crown! Are those cherries in it instead of rubies?

Cripes this thread makes me feel O-L-D lol!

I graduated HS in 2000...I'm not really looking forward to my 10 year reunion only because the people I would talk to...I already hang out with. :) There were some good people and of course there were some real cretins too. Oh well, I'll show up anyway...married and a whole heck of a lot thinner lol.

I'll take a DOTD, I love Mai Tais....its one of my favorites! Oh, and I can't forget the CNTs and could you come up with a little treat for my ratties? They're feeling a little left out.

Mario, you're just too darn cute in that crown! May I share a dance with you?

A reunion story?

I went to my reunion and I saw the gal that "I never talked to".

Our eyes met thru the crowd and we kept stealing glances at each other during the 'cocktail hour'...Got a chance to see her from behind (I was gonna say the "rear" but I know I'd get ridiculed for that....)

Great looking woman, she had a nice figure and a great dress on, I did catch her profile..and that was impressive too!

We were starting to circulate and I noticed that we were kinda moving in each other's direction.

Then we were about 15 feet away from each other when the crowd parted and I got a chance to see her from the neck down.

Cleavage isn't EVERYTHING but what caught my eye was she had spilled something on her breast...

I looked again and I thought MELANOMA (Skin cancer).

Nope, SC don't appear in a pattern like that...

This poor gal had decided to put a tattoo over one breast. It was a REAL BAD TATTOO. If it was any other color besides the dark blue color, it would have been tragic.

I think it was a flower, a rose to be more exact.....Cocktail hour ended before I could find out exactly what it was. I just didn't trust myself to keep my eyes above "board".....

I did feel sorry for her, She was still a nice looking gal-but that bad tattoo, and the dress she had on that emphasized it just ruined it.....

 :( :o

I'm not a big reunion person myself. I tried my 10 and 20, but I didn't have a big circle of friends back then and turns out that the ones that were my friends aren't the reunion type either.

But Mai-Tai's - that's a whole different story. I was in Hawaii in 2002 and we went on a "booze cruise" - a boat that spends a few hours on the ocean while we spend a few hours with unlimited mai-tai's. :D :D

(we finished the cruise and got on our red-eye flight back to the mainland - big mistake  )

I second, third an fourth that :D (I get an invitation every year but I never go).

Bell Bottoms: We even opened the seams of some shorter narrower jeans and sewed some extra cloth in. My first real ones were some grey corduroy Levi's.

Well, I guess I won't qualify as a homeoming Queen, but I could be one of Mario's advisors! Next year will be my 40th high school reunion. I graduated in the prehistoric year of 1966! One thing about going to my reunions...

The Star Quarterback of the football team was there..

I was taller, had more hair and didn't need to light up a cigarette every five minutes.

THAT was worth the price of the ticket.

Oh Barbara, remember those panels sewn into trousers!!
What about the embroidery? I still have this jean jacket that I embroidered the entire back of - it was so cool! A few years ago my mom let my niece wear it for awhile. I have a picture of her modeling it...but it must be on my home computer. We also had a home ec project where we had to embroider something. I embroidered a pot leaf on my brother's jeans. Don't remember what kind of grade I got on that!  :p Funny that the clothes we wore back in the late 70's are all back in again....although I know I wouldn't fit in anything I owned back then.....had a 30" waist back then.

Hmmm....just the thought of that makes me reach for the pitcher of slushies....what ever happened to that 30" waist? Where did it go? :(

High school definitely was a good time though.....where does the time go? :( Hmmm....looks like the time goes the same place my waist went! :D

OMG!! I forgot to mention!!! ALL of the guys who were most popular and the best looking in school....were all bald!!! I didn't even recognize most of them because they were all bald, short plump old men! And here I come, all tall and slender (ok, not quite a 30" waist, but still relatively slim) with only a few wrinkles and only my hairdresser knows why I have no gray!

I agree Richard, definitely worth the cost of admission!

Although....our lockers were assigned alphabetically so through the entire 5 years of high school (we got put in the high school building in 8th grade - no middle school at that time) I was right next to what I thought was one of the best looking guys in school. He was there. He was not bald, short, plump or old...but he is married! :o Didn't talk to him. Out of the 5 years we spent right next to each other, we never talked, why start now? ;)

And speaking of clothes...

My clothes are smaller than they were "back in the day" but as I look down at my rock band T-shirt, baggy khaki pants and hiking boots I realize...

I WORE THIS IN HIGH SCHOOL!

D'oh, I'm such a dweeb lol. I'll probibly be sporting my "style" way into old age.

"Gee grandma, where did you get that classical music T-shirt? That band is so 50 years ago!"

I've never been to any of my High School reunions. I'd love to have a reunion of my Advanced Training class from FT Sill, but I think Oklahoma passed a law about us......

(we REALLY didn't mean to light the hotel room(s) on fire, and there was no damage done, no harm no foul?)

In the spirit of the Burleson Hall class of 1987, how about a 10 gallon scorpion bowl?

What am I doing? Well, what does it look like I am doing! I got busted for passing notes in class and now I have to write "I will not pass notes in class" over and over again and fill up this whole blackboard!

Actually something very similar did happen to me in Ohio. I went to a Catholic school and had this nun who had it in for me the day she met me. We were moving to California and on the VERY last day I had to attend that school she made me write something dumb over and over on the blackboard.
Kinda funny now that you think about it. I wonder if kids have to do that now - do they still have blackboards? Yes, I guess they do.

Catland - did you wear those blue plaid pants in Hawaii? Did you have wine spilled on them there too?

I have NEVER, EVER attended even one of my reunions. I always heard how awful they were - and I heard that my name was on the "lost" list. Now that figures doesn't it? Laurie - leave it alone!! Although I do have several high school friends that I get together with every six months or so. I told them if they ever turned me in and I became "found" I would never speak to them again. :D

Really nice clothes everyone - Deb - great jacket - wow - and look at your pants bottoms. You are some bird!! :D

Hmm, maybe next year's BBQ should have the reunion theme - everyone could bring their yearbook and some pictures. Yes, Byron - there will be a slide show yet!!

The only thing is that I am so old, my yearbooks may have rotted - HA!

Well, I know that I am old enough to order a nice large Mai Tai.....thanks Richard.............nice tatoo huh? Betcha couldn't take your eyes off of it.

Here's to our Queen and Mario - that outfit is just to die for!!

I haven't joined you guys on Thursdays in a long time. I think I'm ready today!!! :D

Two weeks ago, I drug my poor husband to my 25th high school reunion. Class of 1980!!! I went to a small, private school and we only had 52 in our whole graduating class. I thought this reunion would be well attended, but it wasn't. We've had one every 5 years since we graduated and I haven't missed a single one. I always enjoy catching up with my old friends, although I don't keep in touch with them in between very much. My mom keeps me up to date on them since so many still live in my hometown.

Two weeks ago I had my 25th class reunion - class of 1980. We have our reunions every 5 years and I've only missed one because the organizer's computer crashed so they lost everyone's address and I never got an invite so I didn't even know it was going on until it was over with. Bright sunny day here in Chi-town, and the Sox won - controversial or not - so Chi-town is feeling pretty good today. And......it's Yom Kippur so the boss is in temple all day! :D :D

Anyway, I've blabbed enough. I've got the coffee going, so all we need is Slick so we can add some Baileys to it, and I made some sticky buns too. Haven't made them in a long time so I hope they turned out ok......

Two cute jokes I got to liven things up around here.

Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know
each other so well, they decided to get married.

One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.

The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom
was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over
and said to the groom-broom, "I think I am going to have a little whisk
broom!!!"

"IMPOSSIBLE !!" said the groom broom.

"WE HAVEN'T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!"

Sounds to me like she's been "sweeping" around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

And number 2:
An Arkansas mountain woman went to the doctor and was told to go home and come back in a couple of days with a specimen.

When she got home, she asked her husband. "What is a specimen?"

He replied, "Danged if I know. Go next door and ask Edith. She's a nurse."

The woman went next door and came back in about twenty minutes with her clothes all torn and with multiple bruises on her face and body.

"What in the tarnation happened?" asked her husband.

"Danged if I know." she replies. "I asked Edith what a specimen was, and she told me to go pee in a bottle. I told her to go fart in a jug and then all hell broke loose."

You've all heard the one about the blonde whose Doctor tells her "Congratulations, Ma'am, you're Pregnant!" The Blonde turns to the doc and asks, Oh my Gosh, is it mine?

Oh pshaw ya'll. I graduated HS in '65. I've been a card carrying member of AARP for years. We may be gaining weight but at least we can brag that we are gaining wisdom as well :p AND experience, good bad or indifferent.. at least we have grown beyond Boone's Farm
So Debbie is the Homecoming Queen and Mario, of course, is King (who else would wear cherries instead of emeralds in his crown?). But I pronounce myself President of Gini's FAN club! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! All Hail! Let's all genuflect to us... ohmmmmmmmm~~~~

Not all of us ;)

Man I remember one particular party where I downed a whole bottle of Strawberry Hill Boones Farm. I didn't feel a darn thing...until I stood up and fell flat on my face!

One shouldn't underestimate the power of cheap wine :D

I can remember a particular fraternity party when I was in college and the future husband (#1) drank a lot of Mogan David wine.......I held his head for him as he lost it all. That's the only time he ever did that and the only time I ever did that for him!

Richard, I know it is Friday, but I'm ready for another coconut-less Mai Tai. It's been a harsh day, workwise. :(

I remember Spanada wine......It was a poor man's Sangria.

You drank a bunch passed out and people would say, "Look at that poor man....lying on the floor like that!!"

Ah, those were the days! :)

Ahh...Memories...

The first time I got *REALLY* hung over I went to a party after Prom (at a hotel lol). It was my 18th birthday...now mind you this was the first and only time I mixed beer and other types of liquer (Stupid stupid idea!) I drank a wee bit too much, lets say, and ended up arguing for an hour with a fake palm tree. My friends say I was trying to get my drink back because the tree stole it  . Well I don't remember much after that. In the morning, I was awakened by someone kicking me and realized I was topless, in a closet! I guess I had lost my dinner all over myself and my friend had taken my shirt off and threw it in the bathtub. Well I was still pretty tipsy, and the room was upstairs and I fell down them of course. Twice. Once going back up lol.

I got home late the next afternoon hung over and feeling miserable. Mom decided to cook eggs and vaccum all day...I didn't get yelled at though, mom was sure I was being punished enough!

Richard, may I have a mai tai please? In a bucket glass - with some pineapple and a cherry and one of those cute little umbrellas?

Boy, there are days I wish this wasn't a cyber bar - but we were all together swapping our stories in person!

But then I would have to "really" clean up - wouldn't I? And do dishes and glasses and stuff - but - then there would be Mario - and we could really get to hug him.

Wouldn't that be fantastic?????? So who is going to be the first to recruit a millionaire to PT who can provide us with private jets to all meet up, say twice a year?

Oh Gini, I wish the same thing! And you wouldn't have to worry about really having to clean up because when friends are together, that's part of the fun!

I've got waaaaayyy too many "drunk stories" to tell. Yes, I was a bit of a rebel in my younger years. Thank goodness someone was always looking out for me and I made it safely past that stage. Instead of telling you another "drunk story" I'll tell you about when I finally realized drinking wasn't all it's cracked up to be.

<sits down in rocker with coconut-less Mai Tai in hand and looks off into the distance remembering> I was about 23 and living (by myself, this was pre-Tubby) in the bottom half of a house. The landlord, a little old lady - Isabelle (this is Izzy), lived upstairs. Most nights I was out in the bars, especially weekend nights were after the bars closed it was time to find a party. So, one particular Saturday I didn't get home until all hours of the morning. I finally got out of bed around 1:00 in the afternoon and dragged myself to the backyard to layout (lay on the lawnchair and get a tan). Basically all I needed to do was lay there and pass out again, thus getting some rest in before it was time to get ready and go out again. After about 5 minutes I realized I couldn't stand the heat. I was too hung over to layout. That's when it hit me - here was a perfectly be-u-tee-ful weekend day and not only could I not function, I couldn't even stand to be outside. I realized that staying up until all hours was not worth losing beautiful days over. There are only so many perfect days in a year and I was wasting them sleeping off hangovers from nights spent in dark smokey bars where I only thought I was having fun. Ever since that day, I have cut down drastically on my alcohol intake and have benefited dramatically from my choice. I am far better off in life than I would have been had I continued on that path. Now it's to the point where I don't remember the last time I was hung over....oh, wait a minute....I do remember.....it's been a long long time....but that's another story..... ;)
<stops rocking, shakes head and looks around>Oh my, I'm rocking in the corner all by myself! Oh, oh....is this what I have to look forward to - being a little old lady rocking in her chair reminiscing to herself? ;) :)

I dropped in for a few... Haffenreffers (pardon my spelling..not sure that's how to spell that vile beer..that got me plastered), http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/ernaehrung/food-smiley-012.gif and then some...and now I'm really wretching..memories of "Southern Comfort" http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/wuerg/vomit-smiley-015.gif..I think I'll actually pass on both High School memories. The beer (Haff/Reefer that's the name)! caused me to break my thumb in several places before an Aerosmith concert. Felt nooooooooo pain, and had a great time until morning rolled around and I had to explain to the parents why my hand was the size of a baseball, and where I was the night before. We won't get into the Southern Comforter..blechkkk...I cannot to this day...30 years later, even smell that stuff without gagging. I'll have something nice and soothing like a Mai Tai please! and please pass the Rolaids. ;)
