Ok, I took these on Friday, but, finally got them scanned. Ugh, I'm so spoiled with digital! ;) I got a little sloppy on some of the scans, but, oh, well. And, we took the photos with a disposable, waterproof camera, so, they're not amazing. It was cool being able to drop the camera in the water to eachother, so, that we could get different views of Finn. :) Anyway, here he is, swimming alongside my friend, Brian, and, I as we kayaked. We kayaked a 1/2 mile out, and, then back. Finn did so well! He was a bit spastic at first, zigzagging between our two boats, and, not trying to keep up with us. We had to paddle slower than we normally would. And, he kept getting into the kayaks with us, probably three or four times. He never stays put very long, though, I have to work on that part of it. ;) But, on the way back, he kept up with me almost the whole way! It was so funny, he almost got competitive about it! He didn't swim unnecessarily back and forth, either...just hard and straight, it was beautiful to see! Anyway, here are the photos from his first mile-long kayak "trip!"

While I got the kayak ready, Brian was putting his jetski up...

on the jetski!

sorry for the different sizes, that's weird...

swimming by brian...that small broccoli floret looking group of trees in the distance is an uninhabited small island, that's where we kayaked to...

Hope y'all enjoyed! That was a good day!

The jacket doesn't slow him down or bug him at all! He lets me put it on him with no problem, and, it doesn't get in his way at all, it fits him well. He gets crazy now when I grab it! :) Even after only three times!

Those open kayaks that Brian has are really hard to tip over. He did try to climb in with both of us a couple of times, but with the handle on the life jacket, we just lean in the opposite direction, and, it seems to work out! :) I think it'll just take him some practising to realize what we're doing and what's expected out of him, as far as kayak etiquette. ;) I really want to look into getting a canoe, as it would be a lot roomier for he and I to boat. But, he's just such a freak, it'll be awhile, I think, before I can trust him to stay in the boat when I ask him to.

I don't know why, I was thinking that, too...it wasn't that cold, though. It wasn't bath water like it gets sometimes, but, it wasn't that cold. I think it was just that it was getting a bit dark outside, and, the camera isn't the best either that we used.

Wow he must be a really strong swimmer!

did he stay clear of the paddles when you paddled along too?
or did you accidently boink his noodle a few times? LOL ;)

he didn't stay clear all the time, but, i would just lift the paddles up...on the way out there, he was all over the place, and, kept swimming in front of the kayak, and, would make the kayak turn as he would turn around, it was funny. on the way back, though, he got the hang of it, and mostly stayed just far enough away. :)

He swam all the way. We just go down to the ramp and get in. He follows! :) And, when we're coming back, Brian paddles in front to make sure there are no dogs on the drive leading to the ramp. Just in case. If there are, we just chill in the water and wait. :)

That looks like so much fun! I want to go kayaking sometime, but since I live in the middle of a desert I don't think that will happen anytime soon!

Well, anyone who needs a dose of water, just let me know. We've got room here for parched visitors. ;) Glad y'all like the photos, it is really nice living on the lake like my parents do. It's certainly spoiled me. I'm hoping to move by the start of the new year, but, now I really want to stay on the lake!

Wow that looks like so much fun.
I've always wanted to start canoeing, but I haven't had the time, money &/or strength to start, something always backfires everytime I try to start.

Finn looks so cute with his vest on. I sure envy all the fun you had. You should have a picnic on the island sometime. That would be great fun! I think it's funny how Finn got competitive about it. I wish we could enjoy our lakes down here. We'll have to come see you sometime. You're not that far away from me and I'd love to meet all of you.

Trev, thank you for checking out my pup's threads. :) And, yeah, that is a good one. Finn and I went kayaking yesterday, too...to the island and back. We actually had time to get out and play on the island for a few minutes before heading back. It was so cool, too, on the way back, he kept his mouth closed and breathed solely through his nose! He's learning, because otherwise he drinks half the lake. ;) I had to turn around, though, to make sure he was ok, a lot, because normally I can just hear him breathing though his big mouth, which is loud!
