Having permission from Karen to post this..

I created a Pet Talk Chat for EVERY PT member regardless of age or interests.

"We" (current members of the chat) decided that we would try to get together 8pm Eastern time EVERYNIGHT to chat. You can come in daily, every other day, or once in a blue moon - your decision!

You must register (requires no downloading) and apply to join. It is a private chat but that does not mean anyone is excluded. This is only so we can keep trolls away.

Please PM ME once you've applied and let me know what your PT name is when you apply. That way I know for sure it's YOU and not someone trying to pass as you. We had banned members coming in and causing trouble in our previous chat and i'm trying to avoid that here.

I joined. I don't know how often I'll be able to post in there, but, it's a cool idea. I sent a request to you, Group Master. Ha ha, for some reason, that sounds so cheesy...Master! :) Anyway, good idea for a chat room!

I will have to sign-up when I get home from work. This sounds great and I like that we have to register because I was in a PT chat the other day and we had some previous PT members coming in there.

Yeah, just go to register online...instead of downloading icq. I can't remember, but, you may have to put an email address in first...I didn't have an icq # until after I registered. :)

I think it's just this one time. I don't know for sure, though. I already posted once, though it didn't put my name on the thread, although I was logged in. I guess once kfamr responds to the email request (pretty sure she's the group master), your name will appear on the posts...just guessing, though!

Will it always show the icq # for the poster's name or is there a way to actually have it show "kari"?...i wish there was some way to take my last name off of that thing, but, i can't figure it out...is there a way?

It'll show up as whatever name you signed up as.

There should be an option to the right where it says edit preferences.

Well, since I had no idea what an icq# was, i just signed up with my email, and, was logged in as kari...the edit preferences page didn't say anything about that, so, i wasn't able to change it. but, then when I posted again, it was changed. go figure. maybe just your first post is with the number, i don't know...now, i just need to find out how to take my last name off the details list...

Click on "Change your details" in the preference page, by where it says your name.

Also, I don't think anyone has been looking at the message board, where you're post. There's a few of us in Chat right now - located on the top tab bars.

I went there, I didn't see where I could remove my last name...and, I wasn't so much trying to chat, just trying to see what posting was like...

That is so weird, I did that earlier, and, it wouldn't let me change it. ugh. I'm not a computer nerd, but, I'm not as stupid as I've sounded! :)

If you go to that page and scroll down it shows your Name, Age, and stuff. Just delete what it says as your last name and nothing will show.

I will definately be sending you a PM to join, Kay. The only problem is I'm at work at 8pm every day (except Wednesdays) so I will probably miss most of the chats. I'll still try to make some of them though. Some of my best PT memories are from the big AIM chats we've had in the past. I'm sure this will be just as fun!

It took me a while to get it right too!

Now you need to go to the site and click chat. It should bring up a box requesting you send the web master a message requesting you be allowed to join the group. That's Kay. Just pop a short memo saying who you are and can you join. She will ok and then you won't have to do that again.

Do send her a PM from here too so she will know.

Sorry! Sautrday night I was there but not until 8:30. No one was there then either.

One problem may be different time zones. I think they start at 8 Eastern time.

I haven't felt up to it the last few nights. I will try to pop in around 8 tonight though! :D

Ok looks like this chat room thing is not working the way it is.
I was there for 30 minutes. Only one person stopped by but they left after about 2 minutes because I was the only one there.

Maybe instead of saying it will start at 8 every night, we should just have everyone who wants to chat post here and see if any one is interested at that time. Then all who can or want to can go to the chat room at that time.

For example; I could ask if anyone would be interested in a chat at 2 in the afternoon on such a day. Then if interest was indicated, we could go for a chat at that time.

This is just an idea. Any other ideas out there?

I do know it's not fun being there all by myself. I won't be there tomorrow night.

I'm thinking that if anyone who wanted to chat would post here or on a new thread under General, then more people would have access to the chat room.

Maybe post a thread called : "anyone want to chat?" and then all who wanted to could go to the chat room then. That way people in different time zones could join in too.

Or maybe, just having the chat a few times a week ?

Any ideas? (by the way ; survivor is on tonight. That's why I won't be there)

I think that's a good idea, too! I've gone there a few times, and, no one else has been there. But, I did enjoy the chat with you and k9krazee and slleipnir. :) Even if it was only a brief one! :)

Eesh. Patience, please. :( :( I've had company the past 2 weeks as well as work and LIFE to live. I check my PM's but cannot always reply right away. I try and accept new members to the chat as often as I can.

I don't see why you'd take it personally and honestly it upset me a bit to see that you did, especially when rolling eyes were included.

Like I said, I was TRYING not to take it personally. I tend to over react to little things (ask the hubby). I have emotions (pregnancy only makes them worse.) I was gonna do the mad face, but thought better of it. I really didn't want to think it was anything personal, but, in all honesty, was my first reaction.

It's a perfectly normal reaction, don't be ashamed. :D It's ok, most people let stuff like that bug them, I know I do! You're not a weirdo or overly sensitive for letting stuff like that get to you sometimes. It usually isn't something to worry about, and, obviously not in this case anything to take personally, but, for most, that is often the first reaction. ;) Even just the other day, I didn't see a friend's thread and she wrote me asking if she'd offended me because I hadn't posted, and, I told her of course not, that I had just not seen the thread. I was sorry that I hadn't, because I hated that she felt that way even for a second. But, it's a perfectly normal thing to feel like something might be up when you don't get a response or whatever. It happens all the time, on both sides...where people can't respond right away because they're busy, and, where people take it personally...Anyway, I just wanted to say something, and, ***don't forget, if you are wanting to chat, post on here and let people know that you're there!***

Debbie, no worries. It's just that i've had numerous people hassle me and call me things because I can't always reply right away. It's upset me and made coming here become stressful in the past.

This week I had work and relatives down from Michigan (they flew home today) so I was unable to reply to all of my PM's or demands immediately. I spent most of the week with my family.

You need to send Kfmar a PM. She has to add you to the members list. After that, you just need to click on the word chat by the welcome line. Look to see you there sometime soon. :D
