Hey, I know that a lot of folks are going, or have gone, or will go, through trials in their lives. I'm going through some unhappy moments lately, and, I know that being motivated isn't always easy. Sometimes, it's good to be sad, I know. And, sometimes it feels good to cry. But, for when you are down, and, want to feel up again...how about a thread for people to post uplifting things, doesn't matter what. A quote, a photograph, a story, lyrics to a song, a poem, whatever it is. That way, we can all have some place to come in Pet Talk when we're feeling down that may help a little. I just posted a really nice story I received today from a good friend. And, I also just heard a beautiful song on CMT. Even if you're not a country music fan, lyrics are lyrics...and, these made me feel better. So, if it helps one person...then, cool. So, anyway, this is an open thread that I hope to keep going for a long time. So, post your motivational, uplifting, beautiful stories and photos. It's all about relaxing and feeling good!

This song is called Dream Big, and, it's by Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband.

When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide,
and don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
and don't show the hurt inside,
because the pain will soon be gone.

Chorus:
And when you dream, dream big, as big as the ocean blue. Cause when you dream it might come true.
When you dream, dream big.

And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty
all around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength
to help you carry on when the troubles come your way.

Chorus

When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide, and
don't let them know that they have won.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all
around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to
help you carry on when the troubles come your way.

I always love this one by Garth Brooks, called The Dance
Written by: Tony Arata

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

I love this song by Jessica Simpson. I put it on the CD that we played at my grandfathers funeral....and I always think of him when I hear it and it makes me feel closer to him in a way.

JESSICA SIMPSON LYRICS

"Angels"

I sit and wait does an angel contemplate my fate and do they know the places
Where we go when we're grey and old
'cos I've been told that salvation lets their wings unfold
So when I'm lying in my bed thoughts running through my head
And i feel that love is dead I'm loving angels instead

[Chorus:]
And through it all he offers me protection a lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong and down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me I know that life won't break me
When I come to call he won't forsake me I'm loving angels instead

When I'm feeling weak and my pain walks down a one way street I look above
And I know I'll always be blessed with love and as the feeling grows
He breathes flesh to my bones and when love is dead
I'm loving angels instead

[Chorus]
[Repeat Chorus]

This song had a lot of meaning for me five years ago when it came out.

"I Hope You Dance", by Lee Ann Womack.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

(Italics mine; that line really hit home.)

Finn's Mom, your timing of this thread is brilliant! Next Friday (7 Oct) would have been my Dad's 68th birthday and my parent's wedding anniversary and I've been wondering how the hell I'm going to cope............this thread has provided the answer - I hope to be able to concentrate on the good times and remember our fun times as a family

I find that listening to John Denver's "Sunshine" is the ultimate :D for me - sums up my Dad and ensures that I listen to one of his favourite singers without complaining for once ;)
