flight status (http://www.continental.com/travel/tcFlightAndGate.asp?SID=DB0619861EAF44D59F41B32CB2 087EAE&PS=US&AF=0) Put 06 for Flight to Houston.

Put for flight # 2185 for Houston to Dayton, Ohio flight .

There is about 5 hr layover. I'm not having good luck with copy and paste . (Opera is user UNfriendly when it comes to that stuff).

Edited to say "layover" and not delay.

I didn't see anything about a delay. IS that the flight from Houston to Dayton that the delay affects?

Here is the most recent pic of the status I have.

I think they have a layover in houston, those airports can be fun, when we were on an 8 hour layover in england there was a mcdonalds and all kinds of stores in the airport.

I know all about the 8 hour layovers in London. Been there done that. They do have a lot to do there though. Lots of stores, internet, restaurants, videogames. And Heathrow is sooo huge anyway. Usually by the time you get through customs and get to the your departing terminal it has eaten up atleast 1 - 1 1/2 hours. I wouldn't want to do that long a layover again.

Sorry, meant to say "lay over" but it's a delay in fact they have to sit around for 5 hrs.

I'm hearing a report from CNN that the airport is a mad house. Allot of employees didnt show up today. People are trying to get flights out if you have carryon luggage that gets you out faster.

caseysmom
09-22-2005, 01:31 PM
Well hopefully the airlines will successfully transfer their luggage. It probably helps that they are confined to the airport and not trying to get out of it.

It was a good plan to send Boomer on ahead. Can you imagine the stress of trying to get you, your mother-in-law, your baby boy , your cat and your luggage all on the same flight during hurricane warnings?   Can't wait to see pictures of Dennis meeting his grandson. :D

Craftlady
09-22-2005, 02:16 PM
Let's hope that their plane is full to begin with going to Dayton. CNN is saying that planes that arent full wont go until they are full. Mayor of Houston is saying "sufficient delays" at the airport. The TSA (security screeners) allot of them didnt show up for work today. Ticket counters are delayed too. What a freaken mess.
I will keep good thoughts that Missy, Tyler and Grandma dont have to worry about being delayed.

Tyler has now seen more of the world in his 4 short months of life than I have seen in my 27.5 years on this earth! WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?

Glad the flight got in safely! Hope everything's smooth for the layover and connecting flight to Dayton.

So far so good. Looks like the flight from Houston is still on schedule for 7:20. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I did just notice though...the flight that was/is 2185 from Mexico to Houston is cancelled but the flight 2185 from Houston to Dayton is on schedule.

Craftlady
09-22-2005, 05:49 PM
I noticed that cancelation too. They were saying on CNN that if you didnt have ticket dont go to the airport.

From http://www.continental.com/travel/tcTodaysOperations.asp
Due to approaching Hurricane Rita there is a mandatory evacuation in many areas along the Texas Coast. Departures out of Houston will cease at 1230P/CDT Friday, September 23 due to Hurricane Rita. Currently, all operations out of Houston scheduled for Saturday, September 24, have been cancelled. Resumption of service is tentatively planned for Sunday morning, September 25, pending further review of the weather situation.

Carol called about 4pm EST and said that their flight is still on the schedule. The FAA site says that flights out of Houston are delayed on the runway for 30-44 minutes.

Craftlady

THIS BITES........Hopefully it's because of the delay on runways to take off.

Thanks Becky - you are keeping close tabs. :)

Carol just called again - it is almost 9pmEST and they are still at the gate and waiting. The agents are telling them that the flight is still scheduled but no delay explanation. The last announcement said they had a plane but it was not at the gate yet - and next estimated take-out is "in about an hour".

She said Tyler is starting to protest loudly:eek: But, we feel blessed that everyone is safe with all the threatening weather approaching - I know the airlines are trying to get folks out of there. I keep thinking how glad I am that Missy has Carol with her. Carol sounded so exhausted on the phone.

Not quite "On their Way" ... they're "Taxiing Out" towards the runway ...

Cargo Agent just said the puter says Flight 2185 "Pushed Back" from the gate at 8:21 Houston time ...

"Delays on the taxiway are CERTAIN" ...

But the puter still predicts a "normal 10 minute Taxi & Hold time"
with ETA Dayton shown as 12:08 AM (Eastern Time).

He said Houston might take another 30 minutes to actually clear them for take-off.

Next ETA at Dayton won't appear till AFTER they take-off.
