I am trying to get an interview with Therapy Dogs International. Once Chica and I have the interview and we pass, then I will receive an application for her license. Chica is a people dog. She loves people. People love her. They come up to her all the time and ask if they can pet her. They say "she is so cute". She is my Love Bug. She is so lovable. I hope that we can go to hospitals for children and to Senior homes, etc. Does anyone know about Therapy Dogs?

The future goal for TDI is to continue to bring joy and comfort to those in need, to improve all phases of operations, and to make more TDI dogs available by striving to improve and expand the relationship between TDI and institutions, and individuals in need of emotional service dogs.

We have been members of Therapy Dog International for just over 2 years. I am also President of our local group, K9 MASH. We have really enjoyed doing visits with our dogs. We visits hospitals, nursing homes, and the dogs favorites, the libraries!

If you have any questions, feel free to email or PM me!

Aw you're so lucky, I wish I could do that with Visa! Maybe next year, when she is more socialised and confident. There's this huge test that the dogs have to go through -- her mother took it and passed, but the breeder said Visa would never pass it. They have people run up to the dogs and grab their ears and drop things to make loud noises, etc. Poor Visa would be scared. That's so awesome that you might do it with Chica though, I hope it all works out for you. It must be alot of fun and so gratifying to be able to do therapy work.

We have been told over and over, to do that job.
MAXIMUS loves people. Or, he loves the way people
respond to him. That would be our greatest gift.
I'm sure you and chica will do a great job.
Have a great time. And CHICA, love 'em all, they will
love you too.

CHICA NEEDS TO GET MORE TRAINING BEFORE SHE AND I CAN JOIN THERAPY DOGS INTERNATIONAL. :( I HAVE TO FIND A GOOD TRAINER AND SEE HOW CHICA REACTS TO SERIOUS TRAINING. I HOPE SHE HAS THE SKILLS. IF SHE DOESN'T WE CAN'T BE A THERAPY DOG. I AM FINDING OUT MORE THINGS EVERY DAY ABOUT BEING A THERAPY DOG. IF CHICA IS SCARED OF SOMEONE RUNNING TOWARDS HER OR PULLING HER EARS IN A PLAYFUL MANNER, IT MAY NOT BE REALISTIC FOR CHICA TO BE A THERAPY DOG. I DO HAVE HOPES THAT SHE WILL TRAIN WELL. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO BE A THERAPY DOG BECAUSE SHE IS SO SOCIAL WITH PEOPLE, AND PEOPLE AND KIDS LOVE HER AND PET HER ALL THE TIME IN PUBLIC PLACES LIKE THE MALLS. SO WE WILL SEE.:)
