I knew from the start that the "death toll" would be a lot higher than anyone would know because they do not count the pets as "casualties". It makes me SO made that they can't take pets to those shelters.. Heck, open up ONE for people with pets. They assume that animals don't have any feeling or don't count when they are a major part of a lot of our lives.

I am one that would have choosen to stay and die with my babies rather than to think I had deserted them and left them to die all alone. My babies are my life and my heart, my whole world! I worried about them just as much during all this as I did my skin family. I made MANY frantic phone calls to make sure they would be taken out of harms way before the storm hit.

And hear this, they only had 30 days to claim their pets that were rescued. One temporary shelter is closeing at the end of September.. The body count is going to get higher if you include the pets!

That is soooo very very sad. I am literally in tears. I just think sometimes....what if that was Harmanie.
