I have a 4 month old shih tzu. The problem is when he does a #2 that it get in his fur. I give him baths to clean him up, but their has to be an easier way to solve this problem. Should I trim his hair? and how often? or any other solutions. Please help!!!

I would suggest trimming her hair. I have this problem with my long haired cat, so I just trim the fur around her bum.

I also trimmed Kai's hair. It still gets dirty sometimes but it's not as bad anymore.

We do the same with Piddle's(shih-tzu) fur around the bum. It usually stays very clean if we keep it trimmed :)

My Wilbur has this problem. We trim his "bum" hair usually ever 4-8 weeks. :)

At work we do what's called a "poop chute." It's just cutting the hair under and around the bum. :)

i do that for my toy poodle mix. but now i just keep all her hair short, because since she is a mix her hair isn't all that curly when its long.

Cute! At my work we call it a "poopie trail". I keep Bitsy, my pomeranian's butt trimmed for the same reason.
