We're expecting more babies on Halloween! :)
Starr is going for her ultrasound on Monday. I don't usually breed my dogs twice a year, but read alot and my vet says that sometimes as long as the dog is in great condition it's actually better to breed them every heat. Don't plan on doing it again after this one, Starr will probably be going into retirement after this litter.

But anyway, here's American/Canadian Champion Daddy:

I'll be sure to post the ultrasound photo when I get home. :)

I find it really strage for a vet to suggest that breeding a bitch every season is better

but good luck - hope everything will be ok!

I have to admit I peeked on your website to see if you had another litter due this fall.;)
Congratulations! :D
(Now I must check my calendar for a free weekend in November so I can come down and meet them.);) :)

The more I see of your Goldens, the more I think that I would want one some day. They are so beautiful and they have really sweet faces. Is it possible for them to be good guard dogs, too?

Emmie is going to Canada this weekend for a month, so she won't be bred until next year.

Let's see if I can explain this so that it's understandable, which sometimes I have a hard time doing. :)

Dogs come into heat about every 6 months, no matter if they are pregnant or not they would go through the same cycle. It's actually harder on them if they don't have puppies, because their uterus has to shrink down to the size it was before her last litter. But, breeding the bi*ch again would result in much less stress on her body because the uterus would not have to shrink.
Granted, the dog needs to be in top body condition before you even think about breeding 2 heats in a row.
Does that make sense? LOL.
