I thought I'd start a new thread just for her (here too) and we would really need your good thoughts/vibestars very much.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif

I'm really scared & worried for my sick girl, star. I just got home from work, she doesn't look really good! I usually find her sleeping on my nighttable by the door, waiting until I get home but she was found in the dark corner far away. :(

I walked down to her, she's so pale. her white nose.. my heart dropped to my stomach. [does anybody remember my little tuxedo guy, edges last year? he suddenly died unexpectedly (a day after) after being so cold and pale.] now star is just very like him, very lethargic and so cold..

I took her temperature, degree showed 98, she is suppose to be 102.5. I also did a dehydrate test on back of her neck, oh my, she's very dehydrated. I usually see her around the waterbowl, drinking with her boys. now I feel so stup!d for not watching her xtra-extra carefully. I should have watched her until she licks for some!

okay, let me summarize of what just happened to her (all in a week) from cat health forum here -

♥ just after chance had his colitis, star started the same symptons.
♥ the next day as the vet approved giving her chance's metronidazole droplets.
♥ she had some seizures then a stroke on way to the whitecoats. and stayed there overnight being monitored.
♥ star came home with nothing, we had to wait until the medicine/sqinjection she was given at the office to wear off.
♥ friday night (9/9), she started not eating.
♥ sunday morning/night, she left another painful mucous poop in the sink.
♥ I took her back to whitecoats monday morning to have another full blood panel, barium enema & G.I. series taken. nothing showed in these films, we're only still waiting for the blood results by tomorrow/thursday.
♥ her vet didn't think x-rays scans were necessaried because he felt/saw no sign of imflammation.
♥ now tonight (9/13), she's all-lethargic, pale & cold.. :(

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif

I'm not so sure what to do with her for now. all of minutes I focused her, comforting & tried given her salmon wetfood (her favorite), various nibbles and crayola's chewy beefy treats - she wouldn't ever move her nose a bit.. :( I hope to reach her vet by tomorrow borning.

what hurts more, she's only 26 month old (almost three in january). she has already went through so much, reacted serve allergies to four medicines/antibodies, gave birth to four boys, spay insicison & painful notched ear. I've only known her for a couple months but I can't love her more. I can't say more in words of how so much this poor little heart already meant to me. from now and on, we could really use your thoughts, please keep her hard in your prayers, don't let my precious star fade...

helpless paws,
..my little fading star..

Boy, I don't know much but if she's that dehydrated, you've got to get some fluids into her. If she isn't drinking water, your vet is probably going to suggest subcutaneous fluids. If you can't do it, your vet will. Talk to him about it now, please! It made all the difference in Puddy. I'll look forward to your good report.

Do you have Hills A/D food to syringe into her?
A mixture of A/D, Nutrical, and Pedialyte can keep cats stronger while we figure out what's wrong. I sure hope they get to the bottom of this.

not much to say yet but had to come & thank you so much for the hugs(stars)!!

star wasn't doing great, kept me up all night. I tried to make sure she's really really warm but always ran away, didn't wanted to be close to anyone this close right now. :( I called twice this morning, they said to bring in star tomorrow (the earlier they could) unless an emergency comes up.

she had her temperature taken again just recent, it has not dropped down more, 98.0 still.

I definitely think she needs some fluids in, probably 2x a day but needed to be examed first by them to prvide some. and rosethecopycat, I ask dr. coast tomorrow about hills food & pedialyte. I was told pedialyte wouldn't do or help rehydrating, and wouldn't be good idea to do vitman injections altogether (if she's getting some tomorrow), he'll know more tomorrow.

do you know why? please keep the stars coming in for tomorrow.. star does not need another disaster & I sure hope it'll be star's last visit in a long run!

many thanks,
..dimming star & I

or maybe shouldn't I wait?? I dread she'll not make it through the night...

I feel so stuck, the local emergency clinic here is soo mean, only wants money and dr. coast is about 30-40 minutes away. I really feel helplessly, don't know what I should do now for her?? except keep forcefed & drive right away if I see anything worse.

God, this is so frustrating and sad. Somehow you have to keep her hydrated or she'll start shutting down. Maybe some liquid food and water w/a dropper. I know you don't like the emergency clinic; I feel the same way about the ones around here. But you may have to do it if she gets worse. Sigh. Lots of hugs going your way....

Get well, Star...

Pedialyte is to put electrolytes back in the system which are lost if a cat is dehydrated or has dire-rear.
The Nutrical is a vitamin paste and the Hill's A/D is a high calorie RX food.
If she is getting vitamins by other means, then Nutrical is not necessary.
By all means, follow your Vet's instructions. I am not a vet.

Get well soon, so you can shine again, Star.

it has been a hard afternoon for me and my star, we cry together. :( the table across from star, she hears my pager vibrations from every notificaton(starvibes) we get! when I read your thoughts/prayers, I cried..I see they do mean a lot to me, especially for my poor helpless sweetie. you people are so wonderful & caring.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/PTCRAZY/purplestar.gif one star from each of you..

furrykidsmother, star is acting the same - not moving around at all, trying to snuggle out the soft warm blanket bowl I made for her. :( she doesn't want to do anything I try, so frustrating. her temperature dropped to 97.7. that's not very good. 94.0-96.0 is when they can die!

oh how I wish everyfur could talk!! all the time they only have to do being forced in the cages, get syringes/needles in, tested, putting them under then re-examed, struggling with whitecoats, scared to be in white-empty room with 'strangers' & without their meowmie/pawpie....just to tell us finally what is wrong!

medusa, thanks for an idea. I remembered I had 3cc syringe from a while ago, sterilized it then tried squirt some water into her gently, a couple of times every hour. she wouldn't fight back...hope that only meant she didn't mind & hopefully that helps! I thought of wetfood I could suck with in too but afraid it can push her over the edge or barf up. she at least had around 4cc of wetfood, salmon flavored - her favourite. rosethecopycat, we could use pedialyte after she's not that dehydrated and if A/D sounds good, we'll grab it! remember, she has a xtra-very sensitive stomach but worth trying.

sigh.. the day went sooo slowly. I can't wait until I hear the lab results, (better be today!) and take her to worst place in around afternoon then figure out the best!! I can't, won't go sleep, I'm going to stay up with her, keep an eye very closely - I'm gathering up the questions now..

THANK YOU,
..dimming star at night by meowmie..

How urgent is urgent? You're exhausted, concentration shot to pieces - wouldn't it be better to attend the meeting when you can give it your best? Tell a little white lie and say its you who is ill......

Medusa

Yes, I should've thought of the heating pad, too. I put it on low underneath the blanket and it keeps their temp. up.

I understand urgent meetings. But your health is more urgent. And I don't think it would be a lie to say that you're sick. You're sick at heart over what's happening w/Star and it's making you, as you say, "doggie tired". Take care of yourself, too, Gina. :)

Looking forward to a positive update.......

Feline Rebound Liquid Diet (RX) is another alternative for long term feedings.
A heating pad, if the vet thinks it's appropriate.

Hoping for some good results for Star.

rosethecopycat, heating pad is good as long as it's two inches underneath blanket, not her. she is warming up a little bit, but leaving with me soon.

walking around in circles, thinking what to do. ..not going to the meeting would delay the trail (already missed the last one when I was in hospital) or stay with star..

oh dear, I'm not about to worry about myself right now as this, just to be preapre if today..tomorrow ...is star's last day. :( I'm only very tired but fine. I didn't want to come back, find I regret for rest of my life.

finally, a blub lighted up - I called my local vet (I like doctor coast better) to see if I could drop off star, to at least have someone with her! and to be with her, in case something happens. I'd be beeped right away too. they said I could use one of available kennel, hospitality will not be charged if I come back in less two hours. but anything for her!
