Hi everyone. I have great news! Yesterday my neighbour phoned me and asked if I wanted a 9 month old pedigree Labrador spayed female puppy! His friend had bought her but he stays in a small complex and has young kids and it's not working out. So she arrived last night.

She seems to be getting along well with m 2 males, she's submissive to them and they seem to be coping fairly well. we had an accident inside last night but I suppose that is to be expected with all the changes.

So... wish me luck!!

I'm so happy for you!!:) What a lucky lady you are! A Lab puppy is a lot of work, but well worth it with! Thankfully her previous guardian had the good sense to know when the situation was not good for either their family or the puppy! Can't wait to hear updates!! AND PUHLEEEEEEEEEEZE....PICTURES!!!:) My yellow, female Lab Star says Yippppppppppppppeeee!!!:D

Sorry everyone. My fiance says he can't handle a puppy at the moment. I knew I was taking on a lot getting a 9 month old puppy with no socialisation and no manners ESPECIALLY with the wedding coming up but I thought we could make it work. I cried all day Wednesday because I knew even if I argued over it and won, we would never agree and there would be friction between us.

I think what really made up my mind is seeing Romulus, my heart dog, go hide in the car to get away from puppy licking his face, his teeth, his ears...

Well, we are finding her a home through the local Labrador club and we are fostering her until then. We have actually felt so at peace since making the decision. I don't think either of us were coping.

For interest, her name is Cindy and she is a beautiful yellow lab with a caramel face and those liquid brown, intelligent eyes. She's just had a rough start in life because she doesn't know how to behave around other dogs and my two are too woosy to put her in her place.

Michelle,
I am sorry to hear the news. You are the only one who knows what you can handle. I am glad that you are finding Cindy a good home and fostering her till you find her new owners. I aplaude you. Hopefully, you will be able to find Cindy a home where she can be taken care of, taught how to behave, and given all the love that she deserves!

Godd Luck! Keep us posted!

Thanks for the support. We are still renting and we only have a 6 month lease (3 months remaining). If we ever needed to move, it would be really difficult to find a place that will let us have 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Oh well, one day I will have my own house (farm!!) and then I can have a sweet Lab puppy with puppy breath! Thanks again for being the kind of group that are thrilled to hear of a dog being adopted and supportive if the adoption doesn't work.

Rescue groups for breed specific dogs have wonderful success rates in placing pups. You being able to foster temporarily until a forever home is very noble.

Congratulations on your up coming wedding! I'm wishing you a lifetime of love and joy together.

Thanks everyone! Well, we found a new home for Cindy through our local Lab club and the new owners came and picked her up on Friday. I didn't even cry! (I did all my crying on Wednesday)

The new lady has a hubby, two children and two Chow mixes. She seems thrilled to have her but we will get an official update tomorrow so I'll tell everyone when I know.

This decision has been hard to make but it has definitely been the right one. We had Digby and Romulus at training on Saturday and I can see the difference. The trust is a bit broken but we took them to a flea market today and their obedience was still good, even had a breakthrogh with heel up stairs!

OK, I'm at my folks place and trying to work out their new digital camera. Maybe I'll have pictures of my boys to post soon!!

What ever happened to the Lab pup Michelle? I know the decision had to be difficult.

So sorry you couldn't keep the puppy Michelle and so happy you found a home for her. They are a lot of work aren't they.

Aargh! No more internet at home!!

Sorry it's taken so long for an update but good news. Cindy is fitting in with her new family better than she EVER did here. Lorna phoned me to tell me how well she's doing and it looks like she really needed kids to play with! Cindy helps Lorna tuck the kids in at night, gets along great with her other dogs and is generally loved to bits.

I guess I realised that 2 rescues is enough for me right now. They need me and with their dysplasia, it's selfish of me to not give them all my attention
