Unfortunately, I live in Austin now, so going to one of those shelters isn't an option. :(

The Austin Humane Society has taken in close to 80 animals and as far as I know, is only taking monetary donations right now.

Many displaced dogs are arriving in Indianapolis. I believe
they are dogs from flooded Shelters in the Katrina affected
areas. Some poor dogs paddled for hours in flooded cages
just to stay alive. These are resident strays that were housed
in local Shelters. They are being shipped out to other states
for adoption. God bless each and every one who has helped
make this possible.

Those poor animals. I feel so bad for them. Just the thought of any of my pets paddling through water, trying to stay alive, makes me cry. Thanks for posting the info!
