Depending upon what size you are looking for, ebay is a greaet place to get scratching posts (especially the bigger ones).

We are looking forward to pictures...;)

Although I'm not crafy enough, I've heard that it's not that hard to make one and there are lots of intructions on online.

I bought this cat tree new from ebay for less than $100. It goes from floor to the ceiling. My cats all love it!

If you just want a little post though, you can get those at Walmart for $10-$15. I have a couple of those too and my cats enjoy them as well.

why don't you suggest to your dad you do the project together? It is very cheap to do. We made a cat tree that went from ceiling to floor. It is comprised of a few shelves covered in carpet and a floor to ceiling length piece of wood we used 2 x 2 wrapped completely in sisel. We notched out a place in the shelves for the pole to fit and used long screws to stablize it to the shelves. And the shelves are merely attached to the wall with brackets. No nails. We used long staples and screws. You can see what we did here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79471)

i looked on the walmart website and clicked on cat furniture and beds. they only had beds, no scratch post/condo. is that all they have at walmart?

I just checked and you are absolutely right. The website has nothing but maybe call them. I know that always carried them.
