I used to know this - as someone here told me - but how do you make the little text *heart* and other symbols like the cents sign and others?? It is something simple right on the keyboard but I cannot find out how to do it:eek: I bet somebody here knows!!
Kelly (Noah's Mommy) makes the heart often.

Accually you can make a cross by putting & # 1 3 4 ; without the spaces:)

I sent a few people a list of these a few years ago. They're quite convenient sometimes, like when you need a degree symbol: °
... which is: & deg; (no space!)
You search for html or ascii and you'll find them all. :) Here's one link to a site:

actually, if you go to Insert Symbol in Microsoft word, then you can gat almost any symbol!

you don't need the img tags just type &hearts ; without the space in the text box.

You type..........
[b][size=8][color=red] at the beginning..........
and then close them all at the end.
If you go back to my post and click on the quote button,
you will see how I did it.

OK definitely I'm going to have to bookmark this thread and experiment when I get home from work.
Those little hearts are so sweet. I wonder if the same coding works in outlook express? Will have to try it out and let you know.

You can make the hearts symbol still! I just found this out!!! hold down the Alt button along with the number 3 on the number pad on the far right of your keyboard! Alt + 3 = ♥ See?? Alt + 5 = ♣!!! Alt + 7 = •!

OOOH THANKS FOR THE ALT TIP!! I knew the ASCII code for the symbols but NEVER the ALT+ trick!! I knew how to make a copy symbol and other cool ones like
© = ALT+0169
§ = ALT+0167

Hehe I know, that confused me at first, too. Using ♥ will only work if HTML is enabled. Since they upgraded I'm assuming they disabled HTML so those codes will no longer work. Instead a newer way is by using ALT+3 to make hearts, so instead of typing in code for the webpage to render, you just put a heart right into your post, like so:

Yes, it does. I'm using FireFox and I can view them with no problem. Go to view>character encoding and try putting it on "western" to see if that works (that's what mine is on and allows me to see them).

Hold down the ALT button while you hit the number 3 on the NUM pad, not on the number bar above the letters on the keyboard. :) We just say ALT+3 because it means "the ALT key AND the number 3" hehe

If you're just seeing question marks, then your character encoding in your browser probably doesn't support these characters. Refer to my post above where I explain how to do it on Firefox, I believe hte process is similar with IE as well

No, you can't do it on a laptop, unfortunately, because you don't have a numpad. :( BUT you can try copying and pasting a heart from someone else's post though! Maybe that will work?
