View Full Version : Healing vibes needed for Kia

I posted this in Dog Health (http://67.15.70.205/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86460) but since I have a diagnosis and more people frequent this board, I figured I'd post here. :)

It took Kia to the vet yesterday and her red welt was diagnosed as a Histiocytoma (a benign tumor). I have medicine for it, but if it's not gone in two weeks, she'll need to go back to the vet.

I'd hate to think if it's not benign.

So I was just hoping for good thoughts for my goofy girl. She hasn't been herself lately.

Thanks.

Oh, man, I'm so sorry that you guys are having to go through this. I hope it heals up and she doesn't even have to go back. She's so pretty in the picture. May she be feeling like her happy self very soon.

Yeah, I know, but she hasn't been like this in past summers.

Cowers, acts like I beat her, going after other dogs while on a leash, lunging at the cats, etc.

Way to get my blood pressure up. ;) :p

Get well wishes being sent for Kia! Hope you are back to your old self real soon.

Kimmy,
Has anyone other than you been with Kia lately? Is there a possiblity someone did something to scare her recently?

I would wonder what happened shortly before you started to see the marked difference in her personality. I hope she is back to her wonderful self soon.

Only my parents. She adores them and they spoil her rotten. She often refuses to leave their house when I go over to do laundry, so they'll let her stay over a few nights.

On these occasions they've called me to say she's acting like she doesn't feel well. She mopes and won't play. I could associate that with the heat.

But they said she no longer sleeps on the bed with them. She used to love that. She'll now go downstairs and no amount of calling on their part will make her come up.

And in the mornings she's always gone to the sliding door to go outside for th morning potty break. Dad said he'll call her and she'll get up and go downstairs.

She's just been acting odd.

Prayers and good vibes are on the way!

Harley had something like that on his head. I was so scared it was something serious. The vet gave us some ointment and in a few weeks he was completely back to normal. Here is my post about it.

Harley's cyst/tumor thread (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?threadid=65107&highlight=ointment)

Maybe she was just acting like that because she was in a bit of pain:confused:

I know when Cagney was sick he would have issues with dogs and such.

I just saw the picture of Kia's bump. That's almost exactly what Harley's looked like. It kept getting bigger and it got a little crusty, but the ointment cleared it right up. She should be fine :)

Kimmy,

Smokey does quirky things too.Just all of a sudden he'll change
his mind about things he's done for months and act afraid or
unwilling to do them anymore. I love the little guy but I don't
think I'll ever understand what makes him tick.:D

I do hope Kia's bump heals up by itself & I'm glad it doesn't
hurt her.

Kia, Andy, and I had a great weekend. I think seeing Andy helped pull her out of her funk. ;) :D

The bump is still there, but I noticed this morning it's losing a little of it's redness.

Day 9 of 14 and the bump is not getting any smaller. :\

Not getting any bigger, so I guess that's a good thing.

I'm taking Kia to my parents house on Monday. They said if by day 14 (Wed. the 31st), it's not gone, they'll take her to the vet.

I'm glad that seeing Andy cheered her up a bit. I'm sorry she's been feeling poorly. Get well soon beautiful Kia.

My friend's dog, Minnie, had an ingrown/impacted hair follicle that kind of looked like that, if I remember correctly. Maybe that's what it could be?

On Saturday while washing away the old dried up medicine, the bump started to bleed. I got it to stop after awhile and applied some fresh medicine. It is mostly pink now, with some dark red spots towards the top.

On Sunday it looked a little smaller so I think it is shrinking, albeit slowly. :D

Thanks for all the good thoughts! Kia and I had a great weekend and I have pictures to share. :)
