http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/cyber-sibes/huskyanimagif.gif Star and Sherman are raising money for homeless & abused huskies!
They are signed up for the Husky Hike 2005, which takes place on Oct. 1st. It's our first Husky Hike, so we're pretty excited! We hope to raise a total of $100 in donations. (We already have $40 in committments!) Please keep us in mind and root us on to victory!
More info: http://www.adoptahusky.com/hike2005.htm

If you would like to donate a couple bucks, or have items to donate to the rescue, please pm me. Thanks! Pat

Well I know she said she's bringing her three, but she just told me about a new foster she got, so who knows...he might be coming along:)
I'm just bringing Roxey this year that way I can help Jen out more.
I'm getting excited to go...it really was a lot of fun last year!

Oh and it's so great, my new manager has offered to donate some gift certificates for the silent auction and a lot of my co workers have donated (over $100 so far!).

Wonderful! A couple of PT-ers have sent items for the auction and a donation, too. I think I may hit the $100 donations as I hoped, but alot of people are telling me they donated to the hurricain relief. Paws still crossed....

I had my son's husky temporarily until we found him a permanent home. (I was kind of hoping maybe that would be with us, but it didn't work out that way:( ) Speedo now has a great home with a young couple that adore him.

and the Pilot & all Three Co-Pilots are *bushed* ... past *bushed* !! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/tongue.gif

Pet Talk was well represented at the Husky Hike! :)

Pat & JoJoe brought Star & Sherman;

Anna brought Roxey;

Jennifer brought Cheyanne (SP?), Mickey/Nicky ???, and Foster "Scotch"!
(Hey - I'm TIRED! Be happie I got the Hoomin names right!)

And Cinder, Smokey & Bowser let "Dad / Phred" drive da Bus and Hold da leash.

Amy (wolf_Q) was even there (in Spirit) with the Donation of a Certificate
for one of her PORTRAITS in the Silent Auction ...

Took me THREE *RAISES* over my first bid - but Guess Who won the Portrait!?
THANKS, Amy!!!!
(And just 'tween you & me - I think YOUR Portrait was the High Money item
in the auction!!) http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

We all had a PHUNN Tyme;
and PIX were taken! (We'll run the photo lab tomorrow.)

We made "most" of the Hike (about ~1.6 of the 2 LONG miles) ...
It was a toss-up whether Bowz or da Bus Driver tossed in the towel first ...
Both were still standin (and breathing) when we got back ...
just walkin a lil * s l o w *!

OH ... and da BOWZ got either first or second place in the
Bobbing for a Hot Dawg contest! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

Good to hear from you, Phred. Sounds like a great time. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Go, Bowser! And I wondered who won Amy's Portrait... congratulations, I believe it was the nicest item offered in the auction! Thanks again Amy.
Just for the record, Les (ParNone) donated a cap & T-shirt, too. Due to interruption from the hurricane, it didn't get here on time, but will go into the Spring Husky fund-raiser. Thanks, Par
And I would like to congratulate Miss Star for winning the "musical hoops" contest! (just like musical chairs but the dog has to sit in a hula-hoop in the ground with the owner standing in the hoop too.) She caught on real fast & plopped her butt down in a hoop everytime the music stopped!
JoJoe & I made about half the hike...(I'm still not up to full steam since my surgery, so I opted to take it easy)
All the dogs each got a big bag of goodies and a nice medallion for hiking. We had such beautiful weather to boot. A good time for everyone, great to see all the PTers- Phred and Jennifer and Anna and their gang, too.
I'll post pics when I get them back, too.

Only THREE http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/mad.gif - they musta been watching the NASCAR race like we were!

Getting closer - the Pavilion and and our area of the Park were very
isolated (one mile away from the main Park road!) and very clean!
(NICE spot to throw up 2-3 acres of fence and call it a Dawg Park!)

Well...I'm home and finally feeling good enough to post my pictures (I was sick, but I sure couldn't miss the hike :o )!
Of course I took a million pictures..ok maybe more like 110 :p

We had an absolutely wonderful time. We stayed Friday night with some of Jennifer's friends from the rescue who had 2 huskies of their own and 2 rescues, so all together with our huskies that made a grand total of 8!! Let me tell you, having 8 huskies in the house together is a blast!!!!!!

The pictures aren't the best, it was night and kinda dark so excuse all the glowing eyes.
This is Roxey and Cody...they were fast friends

The black and white here is one of the rescues, Zack. He was taken from a very abusive home and is very timid. I'm sure with the right family he could come out of it and be a wonderful additon to some family. He was a real treat hound!
Zac (top), Scotch (right-he was Jennifer's foster) and Sophie

Hey, we know Stormy and his pack! Well, I email with his human regularly! Occasionally, Stormy paws his own notes!

Great pics!!

Yay lots of husky pics!! Gotta love those sibes...I hope they raised a lot of money for the rescue! Wish Nebo and I could have gone. I'd need to bring home a rescue husky or two with me though. ;)

...I hope they raised a lot of money for the rescue!
I just got an e-mail from Adopt-A-Husky, from the Husky Hikes, they made almost $6000!!! (They held one in Mich, too) I believe their goal was around $5000, so they did really well. And recently their 900th dog was adopted into a permanent home. Go Huskies!

Aw great pictures everybody. I especially love the butt shots. :) If only I lived in a cooler climate, I'd have to have a Husky. :)

Way-to-go Star! You sort of look like you don't get the point of the whole hoop thingy, but anything for Mom eh? ;)

Our own PT Artist > Amy (wolf_Q) < *DONATED* a Certificate
for one of her BEAUTIFUL Pet Portraits
to put in the "Silent Auction" at the Husky Hike >>>

Thanks to Pat (siber-sibes) for pointing this out to me!!

Ole Phred slapped down the Opening Bid ...
but it also caught the eye of another bidder http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif ...
She raised my bid by $10.00!

Not to be outdone ... UP it went by $5.00!

I checked back a hour later ... Phred's still on top! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/smile.gif
Off we went on the *Hike*.

We returned for lunch and a *check* on the Portrait ...
OMG! She came back and *raised* me another $5.00! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/frown.gif

Grabbed the ole pen and UP we go another $5.00!
TAKE THAT!

We didn't stray too far from the Auction tables after that ...
every time someone bid on that table - WE strolled by to check
the Portrait's bid sheet!

We **WON** the Portrait Bid!!

I think that Amy's Portrait Certificate was the High Money item in the Auction!
THANKS Again, Amy!!

I haven't decided for sure yet ...
But with THREE Mutts anna Kat in the "Family" ...
I'm *thinkin* I shouldn't play favorites with just ONE of em ...

Gonna have to get a price for "adding" Three More Faces! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

Thats wonderful, Phred! I'm so glad you were persistent and won. If you decide to add the rest of your gang I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Amy does wonderful work. I have a portrait of Katie and she has just finished one of Tori for me and they are fantastic!

The auction was great (and we even won a few things ourselves!)!
Glad to see that some good money was raised for Amy's generous donation, and glad to see it went to a great person too;)
