...on a permanent basis :(. I was out with it this weekend and it just decided to die on me (again). I'm going to evaluate the damage, and if it costs too much I'm going to have to just take her off the road. I can't afford to keep plugging money into it and have it still break. As is, I missed work today because I couldn't get there (I work 35 miles away from home).

I love that car to death but I have to be practical too. She's given me a good 2 year run but there comes a time when you have to throw in the towel.

I'm upset, I really am. It is just a car but it's my first car...and I hate to see something stupid take her off the road. She hasn't been the same since the accident though, and I know that eventually something is going to break that I just can't fix.

I think the little blue pill has made its last ride. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you find something reliable and safe!

I remember some of my "old" cars, fondly, but I've never really missed one badly. Sorry about yours. I do HATE to spend money repairing them, even when they are my sole form of transportation!!! :o I baby my car that I have now because I want to be able to drive it for a long, long time. And boy did I get ticked off when on two different occasions someone hit me! The first time was the worst, about 2 years ago, and there was $4,000 damage to my vehicle that didn't even have a scratch on it before!

Best of luck to you! You definitely need some reliable transportation with a commute like that!

Oh, that's so sad. I know what you mean, my car is passing away. I don't like the idea of not having my escort, even though it's a piece of poo. It's my first car, too, and, I've had it since '99. It's sure going to be weird not having it around. You'll have to give it a good sending off pictorial party on Pet Talk. I'll attend!

If I can get it towed home, I'll be sure to post pics of it's send off if I decide to junk it. The mechanic is confidant that its something really simple though...now the problem is getting a 45 mile tow back into town and to the mechanic. I had it all set up to tow home last night but the guy flaked on me an hour before he was coming to get the car :p

Bleh my life sucks. I had to ride the bus to work this morning but at least I got here for what its worth.
I can't remember the last time I actually slept...I passed out on the bus on the way here for about 30 minutes I think.

Sorry to complain

Your insurance company should offer free towing with your
policy. Have you checked with them?

Unfortunetly...my car is too old to get towing coverage from the company I'm with. But...my dad is with AAA and they'll tow my car for free on his towing insurance. :) One hurdle out of the way...now I hope my car isn't burned to the ground by the time the truck shows up.

Good news!! The pill is getting towed into town as I post, and no one molested it. I was so worried about it too. Now hopefully the mechanic is right and it IS something simple!
