Some of you might remember me mentioning about the parking lot beside my house where I would feed the strays at night, welllll, as of Monday, there is no more parking lot. They have torn it up to make way for a Low Rent Housing complex.
My main concern is how scared my poor babies are with the noise from the machines. I've had to close all the windows which makes it so stuffy in here with the heat we've been having and for the past week, have had to deal with some very nervous kitties when I get home from work. Within an hour they calm down, but then have to go through it all over again the next day.

Here are a few pictures of what they have done.
The front park toward the street.

The back part toward the laneway.

And when I come home from work and look out my living room window, this is what I see.

Now, the bugger part of this, is that we had 8 beautiful little trees around the lot and they are all gone now. I will have to find another place to feed the strays. My cat tree is in front of the window and the cats just love laying up there looking out and after this complex is finished, all we will be looking at is a brick wall.

This is what they will be missing. This was taken in the spring.

They really loved looking out toward the parking lot and watching the birds, squirrels and the cats that were outside.

Why the heck, does the city feel they have to fill up any and every space they darn well please. Even the parking lot up on the next block from us, is being torn up to build Condo's.

THE SDA THING,IS THAT THEY ARE DOING,THE SAME THING,WHERE I USED,TO LIVE,COVERING UP GREEN SPACES,TO PUT UP TOWN HOUSES.
AND ALL,FOR PROPERTY TAXES,SO,THEY CAN HAVE EVEN,MORE MONEY,TO WASTE.
THATS A SHAME,THAT THEY ARE DESTROYING THE ENVIROMENT,TO MAKE A FEW DOLLARS!!

New construction always bothers me too. Our hom, that was "out in the country" ten years ago - is now getting so built up and crowded. Our back neighbor just completed a room and garafe addition that has ruined our spacious back yard, too. I am sorry that your babies will lose their view to a brick wall:( Also, all that noise muct be so scary and poor critters that now have no home.

The strays are still around and I've found a new spot to put food down for them. I have been trying for quite some time now to get this big old gray tom cat to trust me as he is quite the fighter of the other cats that are indoor/outdoor cats owned by a few people around us. There are 6 owned cats to 3 strays. I just wish the people would bring their cats in at night to avoid them being hurt by this tom. This tom is one vicious cat and i've seen some of the injuries on the owned cats that he has done. Poor babies. I have gone outside in my pj's quite often to break up some of the fights like around 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning.

I am just more concerned about how my babies are so nervous with all the noise going on. I wish I could bring them all to work with me so they don't have to put up with it.

What a complete idiotic planning commision to build on a that spot!! I'll never understand the way they think! Poor kitties, and poor you! :( As if people aren't living close enough already!! That space is perfect for a little garden for everyone around to enjoy.

I'm so sorry to hear this.:( I kind of know what you're going through except that your situation is much worse. The lady that lives below me has been remodeling her condo for many months now and there's been a lot of noise. I think that this is one reason why Sunny became so stressed out and this made him sick.:( I hope that none of your cats will become so stressed that they become ill. Hopefully the construction part will be over soon. Please take care.
