In less then an hour I'll be at my very first job interview, I'm SO nervous. I've been looking for a job all summer and after handing out my resume to 40+ places I finally got a phone call. The general manager of a nearby hotel (a very NICE hotel) called me and said they need a dish washer. Not the most exciting job in the world... but oh well, I really need the money. Anyways I'd really apprechiate some good thoughts right now and if anyone has any job interview advice please pass it along to me. ;) Thank you all and I'll let you know how it goes.

PS- I've been away the past few days and to all of you who have sent me PM's I'll try to get back to you all tonight, or tomorrow. :)

Good luck! Be polite, but also be yourself. I've noticed that if you're uptight and nervous, then the interviewer will pick up on it and get uptight too. Be confidant in yourself and you'll do well!

Thanks everyone! I got the job! :D :D The chef said he'd phone me tomorrow to give me the details on my hours and wage, he was pretty busy while I was there. It's not going to be fun, the kitchen is super hot, lol oh well. It'll be a great experience to work there, its one of Canada's finest hotels apparently and the people who worked there seemed nice. :)

Since I have worked in kitchens all my life, I actually enjoy washing dishes.. It is a job that requires little thought so I always let my mind wander as far away as it wanted to go. Even when I was the "mananger" I enjoyed washing dishes. Just take PRIDE in whatever you do, even in washing dishes and always do the best job you can.. Bosses *notice* that.... and always leave your work area clean.

Congratulations Manda! Like Laura said, take pride in what you do. It will be noticed and rewarded. My advice, always show up for work early and stay a little later. That will score you points too and points mean $$'s. I bet you're going to sweat off some pounds this summer. Have fun!

congratulations on your new job, that's very exciting! As others have said, just smile and do your best! You'll be fine! I waitressed alot, and my only advice is not to take it personally if people around the kitchen get grumpy - it can get pretty hectic and nerves can frazzle...just keep smiling!

Congrats to you!!! When I was in high school (100 years ago) I worked in a nursing home after school. I was supposed to serve the food, but I loved doing the dishes. It quickly became my job, I did it for 5 years. As others said, be a little early, stay a little late and always smile........YOU"LL DO GREAT!!!!
