Halo had an interesting checkup at the vet today. She is fine and healthy and weighed in at 15 pounds. I asked the vet about her back legs. When she walks, she spreads her back legs wide apart and she doesn't seem to have much "spring" in her legs when she tries to jump up on something. I've asked other vets about this before but I just wanted to confirm their interpretation. This vet agrees with the others, Halo's early pregnancy caused these problems. How I wish her former people had had her spayed before she got pregnant. (She had kittens when she was 9 months old). She was just too young and small to have to go through this. In addition to that, he checked her ribs out. Her ribs should be shaped in an easy curve. Kind of like this: ( )
Halo's are shaped like this: < >
He thinks this is also a result of her early pregnancy. Her bones were still soft and she was just too small to carry babies.
We don't know how many kittens she had, if they survived, or what happened to them. She ended up at the pound soon after giving birth. :(
