rest in peace dearest gizmo. he was 6 years old male calico cat
he passed away 08 07 2005 830pm from a dog attack
the dog lives next door and the police will
contact animal control in the morning
and they take it from there. the officer even
saw the dog loose. a medium sized black dog
gizmo was inside for a month and i let him
out for the first time today. i lost a precious cat
he was very dear to our hearts.

I stood on your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I purred to you softly as you brushed away a tear.
" It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour your coffee.
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take the parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled with your keys.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You look so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so very hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there quitely, then smiled, I think you knew.....
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over....I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, & I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief devide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see,
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

UPDATE AND FOLLOW UP
08 13 2005 515am the DOG was loose again this morning and it was ordered to stay inside by the police.
the same dog tried to attack me. i ran inside and grab a stick and screaming and yelling with the stick i charged outside and chased the dog away and called the police after that.

the dog has been declared a dangerous dog by animal control and the owner have untill friday 08-19-2005 to get rid of it or turn it into animal control to be put to sleep. i picked up the remains of GIZMO yesterday 08-16-2005 and put them in a special place. the dog owner paid the cremation bill and she felt bad about the what happened and i forgive her. please pray for GIZMO as he was very special.. a friend in junction city mo had a candlelight service for GIZMO and i you them for that.......

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. Such a tragic end for Gizmo. I can only hope that he's getting the attention he deserves now and I'm sure he is. Though time was short, I'm sure he was very happy and loved his mommy and daddy very much. He knows its not your fault. Until the time you both meet again, he's running around playing in the field of flowers with all the other kitties at rainbow bridge. I'll be sure that when I talk to Boots, I'll ask him to pass on to Gizmo that he is missed very much.

I've just joined Pet Talk today and have been sitting at my desk weeping after reading the beautiful memorials to the cats who've finished on earth. I especially loved the poem skneisel74 quotes and I've been thinking of the babies I've lost - Maia, Bonnie, Johannes, Erik...they do stay with us.
