Red Ear Slider- Anyone have experience with them?

My parents gave us their Red Ear Slider Turtle. Actually we don't have him yet. But I am just wondering about their care and such. The turtle outgrew his tank they had for him so Rob made a new one to put him in. I think we will probably get him this weekend. He is pretty tame, and seems to be ok when you handle him.

I just thought I would ask for some advice? What to do? and What not to do?

There r MANY RES owners there & they know proper care & everything. Its also a great place to hang out aswell. I've been there for about a year & I love it there. Oddly enough I'm quite popular hehe Its the breed of turtle I have & exp/knowledge I have with caring for him :)
