View Full Version : Poor Starr!! She needs some PT thoughts!

Starr's having a rough start to the week!

On Sunday I noticed that she had developed an hemotoma on her ear flap. A hemotoma is blood that collects on a dogs ear flap from excessive head shaking. Earlier in the week she had been bitten by a bug, and I guess it really itched. :(
So, off to the vet we went. The hemotoma was about the size of a golfball, and after they drained it (yuk!) they had to tape BOTH her ears to the top of her head so that the hemotoma wouldn't refill.
BUT, dispite the ears being taped up tonight I had to remove the tape because it did refill and her ear was huge and red. :(
So, we're back to the vet in the morning... Poor girl.
We also had blood taken to see if maybe she has some seasonal allergies that are causing her ear to be itchy.

Here are some pictures of her on Sunday with her "pretty hat", everyone at the vets office signed it.
She could sure use some PT thoughts this week.

Poor Starr :( Please give her a big hug for me!

She didn't look too happy about the "pretty hat"!

I hope it doesn't refill again, and that the rest of her week goes better!

Oh no!! Look at you pretty girl. You look so cute in your little hat but we don't like the story behind it. Please get better sweetheart. Maybe a trip to our house here in Florida will do the trick??? Couldn't you use a vacation after giving birth to those adorable puppies? You'll love our big nephew Jake!! {{{HUGS}}} sweetie!!:D

Love, Terry, Daisy and Delilah:)

Thanks everybody. She had surgery tonight, and they had to put a drain in her ear. :( She has to keep it in for 21 days, along with an e-collar and lots of medications.
Lucky me as to clean the "drain hole" 3 times a day.... But, she feels better already it seems. That's all that matters!

Oh, Jesse knows how you feel with the uncomfortable hats and e-collars. She sends you her greatest sympathies and prayers, along with me!

Prayers are on the way!-Steph and Jes

Poor baby! Glad she's starting to feel better! Star sends her sympathy, and knows just how she feels (she's spent way more time in e-collars for her hot spots than any dog should!) Sherman sends licks
